alcoholic

Different people have different definitions of alcoholic. I have a friend who has been in and out of AA for most of his life who told me that I was not an alcoholic because I never drank "every" day. However, I consider myself a recovering alcoholic because I recognize that some people just shouldn't/can't drink and I am one of them. I agree with senorjudge, if you take an honest look at your life and see a trend of events in which alcohol is negatively affecting your life, it is probably time to give it up.

My response:

I love how 20 year old drunks get philosophic, and start quoting people. It makes them feel good.

Next stop - - prison and the Bible!

I would agree...but that sounds a lot more like the dictionary definition than HIS deffinition :D

2ndly...it would impossible for us to call you an alcoholic based PURELY off of the 2 dui's , the 2nd one being the dumb kind IMO...which he did. You can't generalize like that.

Lastly, to say if you dont go into AA you're not attacking the problem. AA is good for some, worthless for most. Do what works for you

Ahhh...so you're gonna bring God into this now...I'm sure 'GOD' would really appreciate how you basically kick men while they are down. That's the correct mentality

I"m SOOO sorry for posting a quote I thought was comical and ironic....I'll never do it again. While i'm at it, congratulations on your senior board member status...That TOO is something to be very proud of

My response:

Wow! You sure do know a lot about "drunk subjects". Did you study this hard in school too?

Ya know what, that statement had absolutely nothing to do with mine so you really need to work on those come-backs

I love how some people who are unable to actually improve themselves choose to put others down as a means of feeling superior. I want you to know that I can choose to never drink again, and I can go to college, and one way or another I am going to make a positive contribution to society. But you are a terrible, condescending, disrespectful, arrogant human being. And I don't think you will change.

My response:

Thank you. I try. I wasn't sure if it was coming across.

And, when it comes to drunks, you're absolutely correct. I won't change.

Yes, IAAL can be a bit harsh at times. And though I love him to death (twin brothers of different mothers), I decided to read the entire thread to see what it was about.

That's when I came to the above quote at the beginning of this thread.

And because of those words, you don't deserve any help.

One drunk (former thanfully) to another.

I'm sorry...but that attitude in the real world doesnt work fellas. If i took that attitude into the office at my business, i'd be out on the street (well, actually, i'd probably be at home all day typing away becoming a senior member on a board for "drunks")

We have very strict requirements about that: you must be a heavy smoker, live with your mother, have a computer in the basement, surf for porn, and wear boxer shorts.

I hope you are up for the challenge.

MY RESPONSE: Hey, it works for me! I don't hire criminals.

MY RESPONSE: You see, that's your problem (or, at least one of them). You think we're "employees", or "former employees" typing at home. You're thinking with an "employee" mentality.

I OWN a business...i'm not an employee in the true sense of the word and thus i'm not thinking of you in those terms either....

basically what i'm trying to say is...whats with the attitude...if you took that attitude out there into the real world with every person you didnt like the actions of you'd get layed out on your ass on a daily basis....maybe thats the case though? :D
