What is the name of your state? Indignation

As a public service for those who find it frustrating when posters delete the threads on which other forum members have labored to offer advice, I give you the following links. Alas, this is not an exhaustive list; it's the best I could do in five minutes spent searching Google's cache.

Whoops, I overlooked one. I have updated the above list for your reading pleasure.

(Oh, how I love the 'net! :D Thanks, Mr. Gore!)

How exactly do you revive a deleted thread. I'm trying with no luck. It still comes up "invalid thread specified"

Try googling the name of the thread, the poster, or something specific about the thread. When you get your search results, you should see 'cached-similar pages' following the description of the link. Click on 'cached' and it should take you to the thread. I've always assumed that the cached pages were pages that you had visited previously on your computer, not Google's cache, but I may very well be wrong!

Nope. :) Google's cache is not the same as your web browser's cache, which stores copies of pages you have visited for faster retrieval next time you visit the page.

Here's an explanation of how Google caching works, taken from Nancy Blachman's very handy reference http://www.googleguide.com

"Google takes a snapshot of each page it examines and caches (stores) that version as a back-up. The cached version is what Google uses to judge if a page is a good match for your query.

Practically every search result includes a Cached link. Clicking on that link takes you to the Google cached version of that web page, instead of the current version of the page. This is useful if the original page is unavailable because of:

  • Internet congestion
  • A down, overloaded, or just slow website
  • The owner’s recently removing the page from the Web "

Thanks for clearing that up. Now I know I have an alternative when I'm waiting forever for a page to load!

Either way, she's my absolute favorite:rolleyes: "poster that you love to hate". Just like "J.R." from "Dallas", or whoever is the bad guy this week on WWE.

I had more, but I got nuthin' now...
