I started my first semester of college this fall. I was told when applying for admission that I could not get any financial aid or loans until the admissions process was complete. I was told that it was complete and my acct reflected that. I was able to get my student loans and financial aid for the semester. I only have finals on Monday left for this semester and am getting straight A's in my classes so far. When I tried to register for classes for the spring on Wednesday, the college website said that I had a hold on my acct. I called the school to find out what was wrong and they said that they made a mistake in admitting me and that I cannot take classes next semester. They never sent me anything in writing saying there was a problem. They might even withdraw me from my current classes even though I'm almost done. They said that they can't accept my high school diploma. I have a California high school proficiency from 1995. It is a California legal equivalent high school diploma stating that I graduated in the top half of my class. What are my options? Can they withdraw me from my classes even though they already accepted me and the mistake was theirs not mine? Is that legal since I did get financial aid and federal loans based on their acceptance at the beginning of the semester and they did accept me already? I checked on their policy's and it states that they can make an exception for admission if they wish too, so allowing me to continue would not violate their policy. Do they have a case for withdrawing their acceptance?
