4 days ago my dog (great daine) broke through the front screen door and chased a lady up the front yard tree. We had the main door open at the time and have never had a problem with our dog breaking through the screen door. The lady showed up tonight asking us to take her to the doctor so she could get checked out. She says she is having trouble sleeping and her arm hurts from climbing up the tree. She says the dog might have bitten her on the ass but she has no brewse, teeth marks, or puncture of the skin. Our dog has all her shots up to date and has never attacked anyone before. In fact she is usually all bark and show till the door opens then she runs behind me. In a way I am happy to see my dog is a protector after all but worried that this lady is going to try and sue me now. We asked her if we could call the police to come out and take a report. She said she didn't want that because she is not a legal resident and is not supposed to be selling on property. So it turns out she is illegal and doesn't have a business license to sell her tamales on property and we also have signs posted on the entrances to the property that say no tresspass, no soliciting. Her husband then informed us that if we call the police that they will hire an attorney to handle the matter. What should I do? Do I need to look at getting an attorney? Will an attorney even take my case?
