What is the name of your state? CA

Is it true that the no child left behind act has a law that says that divorced parents must take children to sports events on the other parents time? My ex sent me an email with this in it; "Per the No Child left behid law you are obligated as a parent to let items flow freely between houses." She has referenced this "law" several times and yet I cannot find anything relating to child custody and visitation in the "No child left behind act." I do take our children to sporting events, though I do not like having a bunch of toys come with them because I already have a ton of toys here. Every time something gets lost that came from the ex's, she gets very upset. To avoid that, I try to buy similar toys for them for my house. Can anyone tell me where to find this information?

Your ex is confused...she probably got wrong info from someone.

The "no child left behind" Act has to do with schooling, and ensuring that all children have access to schooling, and nothing to do with family law.

However that doesn't mean that its not in your children's best interests to ensure that they get to their sporting events, or that they be able to take their favorite toys back and forth. However in CA I am pretty sure that there is not a law mandating that.

I am seriously LOL at this one. You can't find any information because to my knowledge, there is nothing in NCLB that talks about divorced parents and sporting events. :D Tell your ex nice try. Now, I'm gonna start reading this... but I always thought that NCLB was re: education... not visitation.

I'll be back to tell you what I read.

Thank you! For a moment I though I had lost my mind. Anyway, I have no problem taking them to sporting events and having them bring their favorite toys over. Just not boxes full of toys. We already have toys here for them and play outside without toys mostly anyway.

Thanks so much! I swear.. I just spent an hour on google trying to find something. Regardless I'll take our kids to practices so I'm not sure why she sends this type of stuff. Needless to say, I wish we got along better!

NCLB is an Educational Act, not a Custody/Visitation issue. She's confused.

Maybe she meant the ' No STUFF Left Behind Act' since she's sending boxes of belongings with.

She's a crazy person.

:D:p And the Patriot Act requires parents to take their children to see the Patriots play at least once a season.
Ha ha ha ha ha!!! Oh that's hilarious!!! I feel like a dumb ass for even questioning it... but she is always so sure of her "facts." Makes me think I am crazy half the time!!!! :D

It is so embarrassing when people try to spout information they know nothing about. I would respond to her retarded email like this:

Dear ____

I am abiding by our court order.

Regards,

______

*that is, if you have one. I am assuming.

Oh we have a court order.. I wouldn't be able to see our kids without it. Actually, I am going to mediation again to get the order clarified and ask for a little bit more time. Partially due to the fact that anything in the order that is even slightly vague she'll take advantage of to deny my parenting time. For example, we are to split fifth weekends. She insists that every single fifth weekend is hers and the last one was mine. I haven't had a fifth weekend since last year. Per her own words, the last fifth weekend was May 26 even though that's not even a fifth weekend  In addition to that, she wants our kids to stay in daycare on my days even when I am home and insists that they have to go to daycare every day or I am in contempt. CO is vague in this area as well. Anyway, that's a whole separate issue that I may be asking advice on at a later date!! I like your response though. I learned a long time ago that you can't fight stupid so there is no point in arguing with her! I'll just get back a 1,000 word email of more garbage.

OS: do me a favor... please don't let this get out...:) Coming from the mother of a die hard 11 year old Patriots fan, if he reads this and for some reason takes this seriously, he'll be on here starting a thread wondering how to take ME to court for violation of the Patriot Act. :D

To him...Tom Brady should be God and the next President of the United States. :D
