What is the name of your state? Illinois
I've been employed at a large hotel in Chicago for four years and never had a problem working there. Yesterday, the director called me into her office and told me that multiple people came in two groups to complain about me. I work with only 4 other people in my department, just one of whom has been picking fights with me on a regular basis as of late. Anyway, she told me the were saying that I only care about money and accused me of several actions which I did not do, the only truth they told was that I complain about my schedule. She also went on to tell me she believes what they say because I supposedly glared at her one day! Then she told me she will take disciplinary action against me if she hears anything else about me, and I know for a fact this one coworker is the ringleader of them if in fact there were more than just one. As a result, it has created a hostile work environment for me , getting shunned by my coworkers, and I feel that this a conspiracy to get me fired. Now I have to contend with this alleged "attitude problem".
The thing is, I have an excellent track record with this hotel, I have stacks of letters from former guests commenting on my professionalism.
I'm really scared and feel like I am walking on eggshells because of this, and that I might suddenly lose my job and not be able to support my family.
Oddly enough, what my coworkers accuse me of doing is something they do themselves. Can I do anything about this at all, or do I have to just bite the bullet and deal with it until I get fired over hearsay?
