To the OP, you have generalized your issues with your ex wife to all women who are single divorced mother's. You have serious issues. I suggest you get some counseling to get over your issues with your ex and quit taking it out on other's.

Single MOM....???

i never introduce myself as s single Dad? I am divorced DAD
You could that if you wanted to... be Single Dad for a while and see which one you like better.

boy that bugs me that a woman proactivley destroys the nuclear family by filing for divorce and then insinuates she is going it alone?
This puts all of us Dads in a bad place i think
and it continues to perpetuate the myth of "the deadbeat Dad"
And if it was the man that proactively destroys the nuclear family by screwing around then only wants to be Disneyland Dad and not do any of the day to day of raising of the kids... and she really is going it alone?... are we back to the true "deadbeat Dad"?

Deadbeat Dad, I believe, originated from those who did not pay their child support, which over time came to include Dad's who didn't stand up and be responsible... there is so much of that today...

You really cannot lump all divorced women into this one category... many of us are here because the man left... some made a choice... either way they are going it alone... AND

We are single... and we are moms...

A 'DIVORCED' mom could also be a 'REMARRIED' mom. But a 'SINGLE' mom can't be.

I think that it's possible OP hears 'single mom' in a whiny tone of voice and believes that women who say that they're single moms are somehow playing the victim. Of course, he's wrong, and that's an incredibly narrow-minded viewpoint, but I'll bet it's also true.
A divorced mom is a PREVIOUSLY married mom, but not necessarily a REMARRIED mom. By calling a divorced mom REMARRIED assumes that this is her 2nd marriage.

Heh. I was only saying what I think Ldi meant.

I could, even if I was remarried or in an otherly labeled entanglement, still call myself a 'divorced mom'... but I couldn't necessarily call myself a 'single mom' any longer. Yes?

Silverplum, you're being cute again.

Sure, I understand that you were attempting to clarify, but it still doesn't make sense to me, unless she meant to write previously married instead of remarried. Remember, the subject wasn't married people, it was single mom.

this is not my situation, but what does a parent call themselves if they're seperated? a seperated mom / dad? I would think single would work the best.

HOWEVER, when I thought I was going to be divorced, I must agree with OP, I didn't agree that divorced parents referred to themselves as single.

SINGLE = NEVER MARRIED

ya, bored here too...had to throw in my two cents
