Yes, suspension is harsh but typical. Try google--not to find incidents of, but reactions to students such as yourself. Some school districts expel or transfer students to "second chance" schools for students with disciplinary problems.

The knee jerk reaction now is to suspend and then evaluate.
Drawing back on a Zero Tolerance policy is functionally difficult.
That's why six year olds who bring a toy knife or gun to school are suspended or expelled.

There is a difference between stupidity and being a stubborn young teenager. Is it necessary to call someone stupid who tries to gain advice my posting on this forum?

Okay, let's pretend for the sake of argument that you convince everyone here that the punishment is not justified.

So what will that prove?

No one here is a member of your school administration. No one here is in a position to change your punishment. No one here is in a position to force your school administration to put you into dentention instead of supending you.

And since no law prohibits them from suspending you under the circumstances you describe, just exactly what do you think is going to change anyway?

Ozark_Sophist, the AP who wrote me up I knew and he knew me and he already so that a secondary school was out for the question for me. At first he told me I was suspended then would have the hearing, but then he changed his mind and let me have a hearing first before I actually get the punishment. So right now I am only worried about getting suspended. From what I see int he student code of conduct what they charged me with has nothing to do with what I did.

seniorjudge, you could possibly say I am being stupid about this subject but generalizing my intelligence as being low would be stupid on your part.

senior judge -

Regarding my use of the word "intelligence": I was using the word as "the ability to acquire and retain knowledge", which antihaxer seems to have demonstrated in his school work (although a wiser choice of words might have been "academic prowess"), but hopefully he will acquire the other kind of intelligence, "the ability to learn or understand from experience". :)

And I (as well as most everyone else here) would disagree with your interpretation of the code of conduct.

I looked at the web page and find it unlikely even under a zero tolerance policy you would be suspended (out of school) at the hearing. Your attitude at the hearing will be important, so remain calm, speak clearly, and present a professional image.

Your issue touches on larger social issues you will face as you continue your education and start your career.

I've taken classes on child abuse and deviant behavior. Even at a university level, students doing research in sensitive areas need to confront the realities of the internet. On certain topics, a call to the IT department from my faculty advisor (and at least notifying my advisor) were necessary because of the difficulty of searching for only empirical studies on relevant websites and not illegal websites. If my internet use was monitored or my search terms triggered an alert, I could have been in trouble had I inadvertantly been directed to an inappropriate page.

And in the workplace, internet use is even more restricted.

I am sorry I am not using perfect grammar on an internet forum while I am stressed out.
Thanks Ozark_Sophist form your advice. I comepletey agree with you about the whole professional image. The whole time while I was getting "written" up I was careful to be polite to all who talked to me. Thanks again.

How old are you? What grade... because in few short years your harsh discipline will be little more than a day off.

No one cares. Being suspended doesn't change your life. It won't ruin your faith in god (sadly) or your chances to be in the military or get a security clearance.

Soon enough you'll be an adult who can buy the Poor Man's James Bond, or whatever left ro right wing explosive manual you want without consequence. People will like you for it.

HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of American's love bombs as hobby. Drive hundreds of miles to see an implosion.

And just don't care about Columbine. I mean no offense. Teens die for no reason, that blows... really bad. But I still don't think some weasel at the ATF is hero.

I just don't.

Not that I am in love with you haxer... but here is a little words of wisodom:
"Sooner than you might imagine, the 'educators' who held you down and hurt you will be dying of cancer and/or old age."

Good luck. Dork.
