No Hot Water

Now "no" running water IS a cps concern. They would make the owner get it turned on I assure you. As for the amish, the health dept. would shut them out and they would not be able to obtain an occupancy permit without it either by well or by city. In fact, for CPS it is the very 1st thing on their safety check list when they do a home study. Having "hot" water is not an issue at all.

And talk about bandwagon... seems like everyone jumped on the one to belittle my concern for my child. I asked if I had a legal issue, that was all. I even said in my OP that I know what is an issue to me doesn't make it an issue with the courts. I also said I know it could worse, but what happens if he gets burned and I knew his dad was boiling water? I would be just as much to blame.

But what does it matter, seems like just wants to be seen is read anyways.

Gee, just this a.m. I was boiling water for soft boiled eggs for breakfast...

I could have dropped the pan with the little guy right there? Never thought of that. Guess it's Mc D's for breakfast from now on...heck...I ought to get rid of my stove all together cuz everything I do on it gets very hot.

Ya know the kitchen does stay a lot cleaner (and safer) if all the meals are eaten out.

In fairness, Mom’s gripe is the Dad is schlepping the hot water upstairs for Kiddo’s bath. On the other hand, I don’t think cold baths are an acceptable alternative to Mom.

So yeah, take ‘em away.

I would have some small concern at least about an accident happening if the water got spilled, either for the child OR for dad.

However, this is obviously a temporary problem. Clearly no one is going to go without hot water for the entire winter. Dad will find some way to get the hot water heater fixed, and I bet it won't take all that long.

"Concern"?? That's funny. I saw NOTHING in your original post to indicate you were "concerned" whatsoever. At least not for your child. Your "concern" was more about your agenda. Like trying to get Dad on something...anything to get him back into court to probably restrict his time with his child. Meanwhile, did you ever find out WHY he allegedly has a problem getting hot water? Perhaps his hot water tank is shot. Nice "concern" you got there.

Honestly, its not a legal issue persay. But as Mom I can see where she is coming from. I would be concerned if my Ex didn't have hot water in his house but there is nothing I can do about it.

If it wasn't alot of money, I personally would spot him the money knowing my Ex would pay me back.

Hot running water is definitely important in weighing the physical conditions a child will be living / visiting in.

Is it the only factor? NO, of course not.

BUT, unless dad is an bona fide member of an Anabaptist community, well the Amish nonsense a few posters are running amounts to little more than unhelpful trash talk.

If dad doesn't have hot water, and thats the only issue, well is that make or break, probably not.

However to say that a judge would categorically not weigh it?

Dad better hope that the kid never gets lice or a skin rash. And of course common things like that NEVER happen... Because the no hot water thing would hit him like a hammer.

You and I can afford it, but not everybody can. Of course, you forgot the cost of having it installed -- as most people are unable to do it themselves. So, you're looking at over 300 bucks. And when one is paying child support, it's not like that money is simply laying around. How about using some common sense, which by the way, you won't find one sears.com.
