What is the name of your state? New York
Wanted to give you an update on my situation. The New York CSE sent the termination of payroll deduction to my employer two days after my son's 21st Birthday. Given the many threads I have seen with regards to the timeliness of the CSE I felt very fortunate. The computer systems track the emancipation date and electronically notify the CSE staff. Thought this would be useful information for anyone paying child support through New York State.
As I have mentioned in my earlier posts the team that provides us with "Free Advice" and in my specific instance Silverplum, has been a wealth of knowledge. I have learned much by reading the posts and more importantly the responses by those with the knowledge. Again Silverplum I applaud you and the other members who have maintained the integrity of the sites basic service. Divorce in general, and child support more specifically, are very volatile subjects, and sometimes the FREEADVICE is painful, but in the end will hopefully prevent some from making the same mistakes in the future and for some to prevent the mistakes from happening at all. This site is a wealth of information, and I have and will continue to recommend it to anyone in need.
The only advice I have for those individuals seeking help from the members of this forum is to take the advice for the value it provides FACT vs. Feel Good. We come to the site looking for information most of which has been asked and answered in prior posts by other people. So do your due diligence and use the search functions to determine if what you are seeking has already been addressed.
I want to thank you all, but a special thanks to you Silverplum for the great advice.

I would also like to add my appreciation.

I came to this site over 2 yrs ago, when my son got his then girlfriend pregnant, then she broke up with him, blah blah blah. She didn't want to give the baby the fathers last name, blah blah blah.

Reading and posting on this site pointed us in the right direction. In the end,my son got joint custody, and the baby got his last name. The baby is with us every other day,and every other weekend. The judge was so impressed at how prepared my son was,he commented on the fact in court-and even waived court costs since he was a member of the military.

I had my son read some of the more "drama filled" posts on here, and it did a lot to show him how important paying your CS is,and how NOT to co-parent.He's never missed a child support payment, and I'm very grateful that so far,my gorgeous granddaughter has lived a drama-free life.

In a couple of weeks, that beautiful girl turns 2. In those 2 yrs,I have SO enjoyed exercising my only rights as Nanna.I love her and spoil her as much as I can.

I don't think you regulars realize just what a valuable service you provide.

Cynbahd,

And thanks to you as well Cynbahd. Being from New York as well, the information you provided in this post has been very informative and helpful. My husband is paying child support in New York which is automatically deducted from his paycheck each week. Not having much faith in the competence of the child support agency due to past experiences, my husband wondered/worried about the procedure for support termination once his 18 year old daughter turns 21.

When you said: “the New York CSE sent the termination of payroll deduction to my employer two days after my son’s 21st Birthday”, was a huge help in itself.

But when you said: “the computer systems track the emancipation date and electronically notify the CSE staff. Thought this would be useful information for anyone paying child support through New York State”, you have no idea what a relief that is to hear and how much you yourself just helped out someone else! You gave us the exact answer to a question we've been wondering about. I am going to let my husband know tonight.

So thank you again Cynbahd, for giving a fellow New Yorker some priceless information...and optimism.:)

Sliverplum, this is absolutely no Joke. Your advice has been invaluable. I can tell you without hesitation that every time I went in front of a Judge, there were no surprises, I was prepared and new what the outcome would be. The key is to listen to those that are knowledgeable, and in my case that was you. I know of no better way to express my appreciation than to let all that enter this forum know how awesome you and this forum are.
