how the hell am I being unreasonable...DAD TOLD ME I CAN HAVE HUBBY HIT OUR CHILD ON MY TIME EVER! NOW WHEN HIS WIFE DOES IT, IT'S OKAY AND I'M YET UNREASONABLE....DAD CAN MAKE HIS REQUEST BUT WHEN I MAKE MINE, IT'S DO OR DIE...YOU PEOPLE ARE REDICULOUS

What is ridiculous is running to court when you two cannot agree on something.

I don't believe in corporal punishment. But, if my X believed in it and gave PERMISSION to the wife to do so in his stead, I have choices:
* I speak to dad about why I don't agree (and save lots of money)
* Run to court and waste money over something that I should have tried to solve FIRST by COMMUNICATING.
* Realize that I am NOT with that person anymore, therefore, I cannot control them. Therefore, I cannot control their behaviour over LEGAL things, like spanking.

You and dad both need to grow up.

I guess my situation is rare.

See, me, my wife, my ex, and my wife's ex all realize that while legally the steps are nothing, in reality, all 4 of us are raising these kids.

There are going to be times when my wife has my kids and I'm not there. And during those times, there are going to instances where discipline is required. And while it's not common, sometimes those infractions require a swat on the behind. Vice versa regarding me and my step-daughter.

We don't beat the children. It's rare that physical punishment even has to be used.

But we are all adults, and I guess the 4 of us trust each other.

Stop shouting. No one here is taking Dad's side. It should work both ways, but LEGALLY there isn't much you can do about this...

although when I saw the thread title, I thought "What kind of equipment does one need to be a parent... Glad to know the standard 'package' will suffice.

I didn't see that thread, either, but there was one I wondered how big the equipment was. I wonder about that with DH's ex, too, which would be interesting to see moreso on a woman.

legally there is something I can do about it and that's why I'm going to court....she hit my child because my child kept touch her infant daughter's bottle nipple with her hands my child is 12 months

Now get over yourself and actually read the advice again and try to comprehend it. You are completing missing what people are saying. If you're that against it, file the order! Dad could have done the same and didn't, either sit down and discuss with him or file.

Ya know what? You want your hubby to "hit" your kid? By all means have at it.

Then send dad here to whine about it, and we'll give him the same advice we're giving you.
