What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MI

Well, my DH and I finally saved enough up for him to get an attorney for the rest of the journey...just wanted to say thanks for all the help in the meantime (especially Tink for all the MI resources) :D

I went with him for the first appointment today and both of us had really good feelings about this guy. He didn't try to sell my DH a line like the others and was very realistic and down to earth about all the options and possible outcomes-he seems to really know his stuff, and that's all you can hope for! Plus, he's working without a retainer, and is allowing for a reasonable payment plan each month rather than payment in full with each bill, which is a HUGE help. The referee hearing for the custody part is in a couple of weeks, and there will be a final hearing before the judge with regards to CS sometime soon after that...an end is in sight!

And to Wiley, if you read this...my stepdaughter is still on her aloe (and probiotics). She seems to be doing well on these, so thanks for the tip. She saw a specialist last week who basically said she was impacted, but didn't have IBS as previously diagnosed by her PCP. Next checkup is within a couple of weeks, I'm crossing my finger-I just want to see her feeling better soon.

Whoa, awesome! I'm so NOT a health food person so I always try to disclaim that when I give people the aloe tip because I want people to know I was THAT desperate that I was still looking for a solution when all the conventional meds didn't work. Aloe is so easy and no big whoop and just really does the trick. P.S. I had also tried probiotics, but aloe worked 100% of the time and it's easy to keep on hand whereas the probiotics don't have a long refrigerator shelf life (and are pricier).

Congrats on the selection of attorney.

I'll be flying up tomorrow for my hearing, so wish me luck.
Good luck to you! I'll send some good vibes (and you're coming into good MI weather, so that's always a good sign :D).

I was starting to wonder if there were any attorneys that we could afford at this point, and not only does he not require a retainer...he doesn't charge for phone or office meetings AT ALL! Only for preparing documents and appearing in court-and he's cutting a deal because he knows how hard up for money we are right now. I feel really blessed that we got his number and he had time for my DH's case. Good things do happen sometimes :)

She hates the taste, but saw a difference in a day so is willing to chug it down. Her mom actually had the gall to tell the ped. specialist that she didn't "agree" to dad giving her the aloe and probiotic because it was unhealthy and could do damage . The doc basically slapped her down for trying to make dad look bad for exploring healthy and natural options, and gave her info proving that what he was doing was, in fact, good for her. As far as the pricey probiotic supplements go-I hear ya there! We're going to switch to Kefir full time after this bottle is out (it was ok'd by the specialist :p)

Unfortunately (on the tummy front), mom is unwilling to follow the treatment plan that was prescribed by the doctor, so hopefully the change in diet will help clear up most of the problem, but I still suspect a lot of it is stress at this point. Poor kiddo :(

That stinks on the tummy side, but am glad the aloe works. I'll keep that one in mind if my goes sideways.
I'm thinking about starting on it full time myself-it's good for a lot of things, including inflammation (and I have some killer headaches and hip swelling, so it's worth a shot).
