What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Alabama

Is it possible to have a long distance schedule changed if the non-custodial parent's schedule interferes with the child seeing the custodial parent's family? Going on four years since child has seen grandparents....

Why isn't the child seeing the grandparents on the custodial parent's time?

Is the timing interferring with what is court ordered to be the non-custodial parents time? You could try talking to the NCP to see if they would be willing to switch, but they are not obligated to change their visitation time to allow the grandparents visitation. If you are the CP, it is your job to allow visitation on your time, not the NCP's time. If the NCP doesn't agree, then unless you attempt to file for a modification, you're out of luck. I seriously doubt that a judge would even think about allowing a permanent modification for grandparent visitation during the NCP's parenting time.

NCP not going to budge... All major holidays are allotted for NCP... Not enough time on weekends for travel...

its not the NCP's responsiblity to give up their parenting time. Sorry, but that's the way it is. If you or your current spouse is in the military, how about using some of the leave you acquire on a monthly basis to go see your parents on YOUR time! By all appearances, the NCP gets little enough time being so far away, leave the NCP to his/her time and use your resources to go see your parents on your time.

And why hasn't the cp made arrangements for the children to see the grandparents during their time if it is so important?

CP has kid basically ALL year, yet wants to intrude on NCP's meager time for a grandparent visit?

A flight would be a little over 2 hours if you don't have a layover- totally weekendable.....

and grandparents can't come visit you why?

I wouldn't budge either, I don't think NCP is out of line. Or is it ok with you to send the children to NCP's parents during your time...for a comparable percentage of overall time?

What about summer? You stated major holidays. What about spring break? Or fall break if you school has it (we do)

The entire holiday is also spent with ncp? Every major holiday?

I totally agree with this post except for the lead in of the first sentence. I do not recommend asking the NCP to give up some of their limited time when the CP has the lion's share of the time. That is a slap in the face to the NCP, just don't even go there. There's no reason why a CP can't make trips to relatives on CP's time.

It's interesting that CP likely agreed to NCP having all of the major holidays in order to be allowed to relocate with the child, and now that THAT was successful, CP would like to alter the schedule and remove more time from NCP for the convenience of the grandparents no less.

Yes, that would be interesting.

But the NCP's schedule does NOT interfere with the child seeing the grandparents.

Save the excuses because that is exactly how a court will see it.
