pa, hello, I am 17 turning 18 in January, I had an incident at school two days ago, involving my boyfriend and a another student, my boyfriend and I had a verbal dispute and he had hit me in the back of the head, but no one saw it and the camera angle didn't capture it which is misfortune . he had been threatening me and called me a , B**h and a c**t , and before he striked me , I had turned around to hit him in the arm and his soup flew everything and burned his arm, he has second degree burns on his arm but decided not to press charges and is not showing up for the court hearing which is to occur within two months, me and him are together and he told the officer it was an accident, on the surveillance camera it didn't look like no accident, um basically the other student was running her mouth and I kinda lost it I verbally attacked her and smacked her with my hoodie sounds silly but that was me resisting to hit her, I didn't control myself although not well I made an attempt not to hit,, they let that go since she only had a scratch, but the police officers came to the school and I am now getting a citation of disorderly conduct on my boyfriend and that only. even thought it was accident and I only hit him back because he had attacked me first, I still am being charged with disorderly conduct, we contacted the officer and he had said since I am a very good student and my principal has had no problems with discipline with me that I need to please not guilty on the citation and he will talk to the judge about just a possible 300 dollar fine. I am not a violent person never have been I honestly have never laid a hand on another person in my life, I keep my anger under control and have no anger problems I just slipped up, and the officer in control is aware of that, but my question is, how am I going to plead not guilty when obviously I am because of the camera, and this is my first o fence and I am under 18, but I am worried about going to juvenile I am in senior year and can't afford to not graduate , I really need help now, I need someone who knows what they're talking about to give me advice, I really am remorseful of this not because i am in legal trouble but because I injured someone I am not like that at all, this is also my first time in legal trouble , ill also add that the officer had said as long as I stay away from trouble and continue to do well in school he would help me out, im just nervous? can someone tell me a possible outcome and why I am pleading not guilty when it is on cam?

Any time you're charged with a criminal offense, you should see an attorney.

And when you get done with that, get yourself back into your English classes and pay attention to the teacher.

The FA Crystal Ball is on strike so I'll give you my take on possible outcome and some friendly advice.

Anger management classes are in your future seems like a very logical outcome to all of this.

Now for the advice. Honey, maybe you should consider a trip back to fifth grade. Your grammar, writing and spelling skills are atrocious.

yeah I realize that my typing skills are very bad, I actually don't have a grammar problem I am well spoken and on a college reading and writing level I just don't care too much when I am online and my spell check usually fixes it automatically and spell check isn't right all the time ha-ha, but thank you for the advice

No you are not well-spoken. If you were in college-level reading and writing classes you would know that you have to hypehnate well-spoken.

If these are the prospects that corporate America has to look to in the future, we're in trouble.

The problems have nothing to do with typing or spell-check. My daughter had better grammar than you when she was in 2nd grade.

If you don't take your English classes seriously and really learn how to use the language properly, you're limiting your career potential. Do you really think that being lazy and not learning English is such a great idea - if it reduces your earnings potential by $50,000 per year?

ok than. I come here to simply ask a question, hoping maybe someone would have resourceful answer that would be advantageous to me , but you are both so caught up in picking at grammar , you would probably drop dead if I posted my SAT scores, and I actually am in all honors English classes since freshman year, thank you very much. I scored above average on the PSSA'S and would gladly send those scores to anyone i am sorry you all have been mistaken, and have perceived me as stupid simply because I honestly don't care about my grammar online, i am sure that makes me real stupid in real-time, your daughter had grammar skills like this in second grade? doesn't impress me , show me how she typed in second grade than I'd be impressed. :)https://forum.freeadvice.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

If you expect anyone here to take you seriously, it is dependent on you to show that you yourself are serious. If you don't respect the responders here enough to use proper spelling, punctuation and grammar, why should they bother giving up their time, for which they are not being paid, to answer your question?

Yeah, right. If you were any of those, you'd know how to spell "o fence". You'd care a little more regarding how you present yourself. Seriously.

Oh, and the antidote to spellcheck? Proofreading. Try it, Ms. "I'm on a college writing level". Because you seriously are not.

Do it. I can nearly guarantee I won't drop dead. Or be impressed. Nor does the "all honors" English class impress much, How about APs? Taken any of the tests? Want us to "drop dead" over those scores, too? Put your money where your mouth is, little girl.

She needn't bother. She could post anything she liked and I, for one, wouldn't believe her.

Thing is, CB... I have a kid whose scores really ARE all that. And he would never dream of writing the way this little one does - online or off. He has too much self-respect to do so. And no - he doesn't use text speak, either. Even while texting. Actually, my younger one - who does not have those kinds of scores - doesn't write this stupidly, either.

It just makes me laugh when kids try to make themselves look so much smarter than they are. And expect us to be all impressed. Not happening.

Okay, I apologize for the carelessness of my typing, you all have a valid point that for me to be taken seriously I have to use proper grammar, I don't try to act "smart" I just know I am not stupid, as for the act tests , at my district you are required a sat rather an act" , I was thinking of taken that untill this incident at school, now my focus is just graduating and getting my diploma that's all my focus is on I am just trying to get into the art institution of Philadelphia, that's great to hear that your kids are well-educated that's what the world needs when put into retrospective my generation is generally nothing more than just kids on drugs and dropping out or teen pregnancies the value of eduction had gone down quite a lot and its good you are interested in your children's education, so many parents are not prioritizing their kids education and are not involved, I honestly am pretty well in English, I know proper grammar I just choose not to apply it on the internet, but does someone have a actual reasonable outcome to all this?

Anger management classes. Sign up today.

Speak to your DA, maybe they can reduce the charge, maybe they will offer a probationary period in leiu of a criminal charge. Throw some community service in there for good measure.

Retaliation isn't self defense.
He started it doesn't mitigate the crime in court any more than it did with your mommy.

It's a summary offense, right? I wouldn't worry about it too much. Yes, you'll pay a fine and costs. No it won't have too much impact on you down the road.

That really doesn't impress around here. I hit that point in 5th grade, as did my older two children. My youngest hit it in 4th...

And, for the record, I feel that I was probably a bit slow when compared to some of my esteemed colleagues on this board.
