What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? new york
I made an account with a bank about 5 months ago. When I went to take money from my ATM, it displayed account deactivated. So I went inside the branch, and the manager told me they had me listed as an employee of the bank and I had a security block on my account. He told me he would have to switch my account to a normal one and that he didn't need me for anything so I left. This morning when I visited a different branch while I was in a rush they denied giving me my funds. I left that branch and called corporate and after quite some time they finally concluded that the proper forms were never faxed from the original branch I made the account with. I want to know if I can be compensated from the bank for the trouble I went through today without being able to access my account.

I was left the whole day without any money i had no money for food my entire work day, ran out of gas on the way home because I literally had no money, and I'm now stuck in my house tonight when I had plans.

....so can you NOW access your funds?

This of it this way, you have more money for the weekend:D

Actually if you tell them they deprived you of the time value of your money, you might just get a mug with the bank logo out of them for your trouble.

But this is still a case of incompetence of banks. If they misclassified his account, all they need to do is just fix it and be done. There was no need to freeze his account because there was no risk the account holder would walk away with the bank's money ... it was HIS money.

If it happened to me, I'd demand that the bank CEO go for a full day of life with nothing more than what the OP had available. Basically, just ruin his day. Then back to work, he needs to fix it. Fire people who do things wrong and hire new people who will do things right. And this is doable these days because there are plenty of people who will appreciate having a real job.

We should have never bailed them out.

I wonder if I can ask for that really huge stuffed horse they have in their window. I'd consider myself compensated for that!

Hell, I'd just be happy with a representative I don't have to wait two hours for a return call from.
