So I'm just going to go ahead and post being young and dumb and even though I've been a parent for six years, everyday still feels like the first day (sometimes).
Here's my issue:
NCP & I shared joint legal & physical. I'm primary custodian. Increase in visitation to 'shared' time has been recent, 2 months. It's not perfect and miss him like crazy, but we're working it out.
Child has sensitive skin and allergies. Has a touch of eczema here and there. I moisturize like a CRAZY person and double rinse his clothes and sheets and stuff and have the ducts clean and whatnot and we survive. Been this way since day one.
He had come back from dad's one week with a rash that wouldn't go away, no matter the tricks i tried. Kinda looked like eczema, but not really. Went ahead and made a Dr.'s appt. and the diagnosis was Scaebies. So, holy cow. I was really taken aback. At that time my daughter was also with us at the dr.'s office and they shared the same Ped, so he looked her over and no evidence of infestation (gross word, but that's EXACTLY what it is). He advised me to look myself over when I got home. Gave us some cream and a three day dose of oral steroids to help with the inflammation. NCP went with us as it was his visitation day. He pulled some dumb stunts there and afterward with the RX. He was off from work that day (I was not) and said that he would go and pick up the cream and stuff and treat him as the doctor said and would meet me at 8 so he could get a shower and get in the bed.
He didn't pick up the rx and didn't bring him back til 9, but I treated him then and it was AWFUL...((kid had scratched himself raw in placed...and after making him take a hot long shower (as prescribed) then coating him in the medicine (which burned)....even on his FACE...))
Anyway. Rash died down, kid went back to dads, came back with it AGAIN. I treated him AGAIN.
Now, after spending some time at dad's over the weekend, it's back AGAIN.
I've called the dr's office cause I'm out of the cream that they gave. I haven't heard back from them yet. But my concern is all the reading that I've done.
Everything seems to indicate that this is a condition thats caused by slovenliness and poor hygiene. His father has a history of refusing to shower cause he 'doesn't have time' and Memphis has come back dirtier than a hog on more than one occasion.
So I'm wondering if things aren't bad over there and he's getting it from living in filth for days on end. How do I keep him healthy?? What do I do??
I've already talked to dad, who is adamant that he must be getting it from daycare or my house and I SWEAR he's not getting it from our house...is there anyway to have my place tested??? I can't have my boy miserable like this continually.
Suggestions?? CPS? Health Department?? Exterminator????
