What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA

Hello All,

My daughter's mother just informed me of her planned vacation with our daughter which is 30 days from today (this is required per court order). Also in the court order, it states that an itinerary is to be provided to the other parent which includes flight numbers and times.

In the past, getting an itinerary has been like pulling teeth. Last year she refused to provide me with any information about their flights, and the year prior she emailed me the flight information once she and our daughter already arrived at their destination. I like to know when my daughter is in the air, just as I know she likes to know the same information when I am traveling with her.

My question is this: Is mom supposed to provide me with the itinerary at the same time that she provides me with the dates of the upcoming vacation?

The court order states this: The parent must notify the other parent in writing of their vacation plans a minimum of 30 days in advance and must provide the other parent with an itinerary that includes dates of travel, destinations, flight information, and telephone numbers for emergency purposes.

Thanks in advance for your help

Frankly, the flight information does you NO good. What are you going to do if there's a problem anyway? Sure, it's in the court order, but be real about it for a second...

Just for grits and shins... what if they're going on a road trip with no itinerary, only a vague destination, and no plans to stay in a hotel? Then what? Will everyone still survive?

OT, sorta, but I just think its funny how much things have changed since I was a kid. We never had an itinerary when we vacationed. We may have had an ultimate destination in mind (going to the Smokies, for example). But a day by day plan? Nope. We went as far in a day as we wanted, depending on how everyone felt and if anything to do caught dad's eye. Found a hotel when we arrived.

Life was so much simpler!

I remember one neat vacation when I was a child. We always went to Chicago to visit my mom's side of the family, but that year mom and dad decided we would take the "long way". So instead of driving directly to Chicago from Indianapolis, we drove up through Michigan along Lake Michigan, through Mackinaw, and then down through Wisconsin along the lake border again. We took about 4 days to do it and stayed different inns along the way.

We still do stuff like that. Only we almost never stay in hotels - we camp. The whole point of a vacation is to NOT have a schedule or someone checking up.

Ok then.

Gooddad? Don't let OHRW's daughter drive, and everything should be fine.
I actually have an older daughter who will start driving next year. I don't even want to think about the blood pressure meds I am going to need once that begins!
