What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Alaska

Supposedly my neighbor says my son is due in Juvenille court in less than 2 weeks. We haven't received any notification of any sort. She said we don't need to receive any notification it could be the day before in the mail or by a summons. Could this be possibly true? It seems crazy to me. Would appreciate any feedback on this.

Thank You!

What did the court house say when you called to ask about this?

It's possible that the neighbor thinks that the young man did something illegal to her, and that's when he's going to get his "comeuppance."

I haven't called because what is there to call about when I haven't received notification...doesn't make sense...

Am I completely misunderstanding your question?

"What is there to call about?".

...to see if there's an upcoming case involving your child, maybe?

How would your neighbor know?
Issues with the boy she is taking care of between my son and another boy that happened months ago. First I heard of anything was just recently. It's a long story and really a case of testosterone & boys being boys. I found out after all this that the school had a talk with all 3 boys to not invade each others space or have any contact and they didn't have any more problems.

Boys will be boys. Is that code for your kid beat another kid up?

what normal parents just call to see if their is a court case when all they have is what some person said?? The court wouldn't not notify an adult to go to court in due time... it definitely should be the same of notifying parents of a minor child.

I was just hoping to get some feedback that there absolutely would be notification if your child was due in court and that this is as ridiculous as I think it is...

It would have taken you about three minutes less to just place the phone call than it did to type up your posts on this thread.

And seriously - you'd be amazed at what us "normal" parents would do when the court system is involved...

Please! Please call the courts to find out if there is an open case with your son's name on it! Just call!

How in the world can anything be done to a minor when the parents are not notified? Seriously??!! If this is common law in our country things are really screwed up!

I talked to the school and they thought I should just let things go and wait to hear something instead of creating something out of nothing...

Tell me, how would the school know whether anything had been filed with the court?
