Gun bans within 1,000 feet of school grounds

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WI

My state of Wisconsin is about to enact a concealed carry law allowing a person to carry a concealed weapon, as long as they get a permit, and training. But I came across an article that makes me wonder about the current law in place for those who don't have permits.

It states: "Under current law, guns are banned in schools, on school grounds and in school zones - the area 1,000 feet beyond school grounds."

Remember, the current law does not include concealed carry because that's not allowed yet. But the statement above does.

Well, I actually live well within 1,000 feet of a school ground. Am I allowed to have firearms in my home? How about outside my own but still on my property? Or even in my car if they're being transported? After reading that article, I feel like I'm now subject to prosecution if it became known to the police that I owned firearms just because there's a school less than 1,000 feet away.

A wise person looks at the actual law and not a summary written by a journalist.

The article does not state the current law. I mean not the paraphrase, mean the chapter and verse words of the whole law, which will define the ban as well as the school zone exactly - not tersely as the article does.

The question was about a law issue that was simply mentioned in the article, and I was hoping to get useful feedback concerning a question regarding it.

Yet you voluntarily waste your time continuing to make useless comments when someone asks a question which relates to the subject of this board. That's what I'd expect from a government official, not a volunteer.

And at least three posters told you that, in order to meaningfully and intelligently discuss said law, you'd have to provide the exact cite to said law.
