What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Texas
I'm 16 years old and I receive a disability check, as a minor, the check goes to my mother. In Texas, an individual can move out of his parent's house at age 17 with a judge's permission, and my mom wants that (so do i), so If I do get the judge's approval to live on my own, can I also get my disability check under my name (at age17)?

Is it SSI? I foresee some problems here. In order to be legally emancipated, which it appears that you want to do, you have to be fully self supporting. If you are fully self supporting, then you may be disqualified for SSI as SSI is means tested for adults.

Yes, it's SSI, and I already got it approved until I turn 21 I will have to apply again.

Your mom is basically your payee for you benefits as a minor .

She may or may not still have to account for what your benefits are used for .

Where do you plan on living ?

It would be wise for mom to contact the local SSA Office and ask ,what would happen if you were to stay somewhere else .

I have called the local SSI agency and asked about this, and they say yes it is possible for me to get the check, but I don't know if the people that answer are a legitimate source, they're probably just secretaries/operators.

And as to where I'm planning on staying I got 2 acquaintances that rent a 3 bedroom apartment and split the bills, and they would love to have me move in with them, as I would provide $750 monthly (If I do get my check) to pay for bills/groceries/cigarettes

Depending on the disability, a Judge may not allow the emancipation.
Disability for mental disorders. I know it is highly unlikely that a judge will agree to it, but if by any chance I do get to live on my own, then I want my check because chances of finding a job are slim due to my felonies and mostly my mental illnesses.

(sorry don't know how to multi-quote)

You will not be granted emancipation.

I will also suggest you refrain from filthy language and trying to "advise" others on this site. Or, if you can't resist, put a sig line up to warn those that you "advise" that you are a Mentally ill 16 year old. The bad language is a TOS Violation and will, from now on, be reported.

Thank You.

When your Mom contacts SSA herself and they will not let you have the checks in your name ,she as payee can pay you bills, etc . if you both agree for you to stay elsewhere .

Just to clarify. This would be a parent/child agreement and NOT Legal Emancipation.

Quote my 'filthy language'
Wow ****ing wow... I don't know what to say... You're acting like a 4 year old your self by making a big deal about it. And your grammar also makes you seem like a 4 year old. It's 'style' not 'stile.' It's 'throw' not 'through.'
wattefok?
You didn't even tell us how you got he 'probable cause' crap
As I stated, misspelled does not hide the language. You "figured out" that the site does not allow swears and "got around it".

Admin WILL bann you for this. Just offering a FYI.

If you're mentally ill enough to be receiving disability, you should not be living on your own.

If you're well enough to be living on your own, you should not be receiving disability payments.

This is not true by SSA standards.

One can have a mental impairment that meets the requirements for benefit eligibility ,but some can handle their on money while others can not .

One who has mental disabilities AND a criminal record is NOT going to get a judge to agree to an emancipation.
