What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ohio..A group of young girls about ten of them came over to my home .One of the girls was there to fight my 15 year old daughter. The girl came on to my porch and hit my child first. My child felt like she had to protect herself and fought the girl back. The girl recieve alot of scrapes and bruising and now the child parents are saying that they are going to the prosecutor office to press charges against my child.my question is can my child be charge with a crime for defending herself on her own property. neither her nor my child parents was there at the timeWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

that is indeed a questionable statement.

do you usually describe yourself in the third person?

and if no one was there, how do you know what happened?

your child could have just gone in the house and called 911. oh i know, that is soooo uncool, much cooler to beat up your "assailant" than let the authorities handle the "obviously" criminal behavior.

both girls should complain against eachother.

Yes, she can be charged with a crime.

Did your daughter know they were coming over for the fight? In my experience, these groups gather when the fight is pre-arranged. It is possible that both girls will be charged.

You can bet your 15 year old knew they were coming. If one of them was eager to fight her, they wouldn't have just shown up and risked your daughter not being there. If your daughter was going to fight her, what did she intend to go about her friends???????

You'd better accept the truth about your daughter or you could be spending a lot of money and time with lawyers.

Your daughter was on the porch, ready and eager to fight. If she hadn't been, she would have rushed back in the house and called the police.

and what did the police say when they were called to report the gang that came and attacked your daughter? Has anybody on your daughter's side of this ever called the police and filed a complaint?

Maybe I'm a bit irresponsible as a parent, but in this exact situation, I don't see myself calling the police...

not unless my child was seriously injured, or a you tube video of the fight went up.

other then that, girls who fight, usually become good friends thereafter. weird. i know. like a gang jump in, even if not.

I suggest you pay much closer attention as to any changes to cloths hair friend circle or behavior from now on. make sure the "jump in" is not the case. If it is, I will pray for you.

Ahhh the good old days. When something similar happened to me, I was waiting for them and chased them off with a tire iron. They ran like little girls.

I would definitely press charges against the girl in your situation.

.

I don't agree with you. In todays world, rather than becoming friends, they are more likely to get a gun and remove the other person from the living.

really? assault and battery is not justification for a call to the police? Um, ok.

No my two girls and my two year old was on the front porch waiting to be pick up. The group of girls was walking down the street and the one girl walked onto my porch and strike my child in the face. My child said it happend so fast that all she could think of was to protect herself..the girls use to be good friend.. my husband and I try to go over the the young lady house to talk to her parents they didnt want to talk and said that they was pressing charges againt my child because their child had some marks and scars. They claimed that they called the police but no police ever came to our house.I just dont understand how their child came on my property and hit my child and now they want charges brought against my child.

those were little girls OHroadwarrior. I would have to guess it was sometime before you reached puberty and realized it's more fun when you don't chase the girls away.:D
