My daughter was in psych. treatment for years, as she approached her 16th birthday we were advised to sign over our rights because in this state a person at the age of 16 can refuse medical treatment.
She is now with a foster family and they have been feeding into her that we "gave" her away..... we did what was best for our daughter.
They have restricted her communication with us and have denied us visitation even after at our last DCF meeting they said we could meet with her.
We are at a loss. None of the people involved can publicly say that they advised us to sign over our rights and we are heart broken at the thought of our daughter thinking we abandoned her.
What if anything can we do?
