Um, where are we all getting that this place is so remote? It can't be THAT remote since it's less than a mile from the school.

cbj,

I am not saying it is remote...just that it could be and that would be a factor.

I used to live in upstate New York as a young girl. My home was only about a mile or so from school----BUT, a very wooded lonely stretch of road with few houses, people or vehicles. Back then, I thought nothing of it....but, NOWADAYS, no way !

Perhaps we should get a little more information from the poster, then, before we start getting too far off the beaten path into safety issues that may not even exist.

Safety, smaftey ... have more than 1 kid if you are that concerned. Back when CdwJava was a kid, parents were having 13 kids .... so losing 1 was not that big a deal.
This is one of the stupidest statements I have ever seen.

And not a helpful contribution to the legal question.

First of all, I have two kids.

My grandmother had nine, eight of whom lived. She mourned the one who died in infancy till the day she died.

So shut your nasty little trap.

How can you say such a thing. It doesn't matter how many kids you have, it's the chair that is missing at the table that makes the heart ache.

My daughter's HS requires an internship Senior year. Some are close by (a mile or less), while others are quite distant (the furthest is !two hours...). Transportation is not provided.

1. The placement area was assigned to me. I did not choose it.
2. I live in a small farming town. Only the main streets are plowed.
3. It's not that I can't walk, it's that I don't belive it's my responsibilty to transport myself, because it's mandantory.

Thought I might add that if we have a snowday then it's cancelled...but thats very rare. We have school when it's below 0. Only time they cancel is if it is EXTREMLEY icy. We have gone 3 years without a snowday. Yes i know i'm getting a little off topic, but im trying to illustate the conditions.

My internship is at our elementary school
Dude, really... It's standard for you to provide your own transportation for this type of thing, even when it's mandatory. And sorry, but I lived in Syracuse for several years. So I know about winter weather. A mile or so isn't really THAT bad. Deal with it.

When you signed up for the vocational program, what did it state about transportation?
