What 's the reason for banning the Hunger Games books?
The reasons given: sexually explicit material, it is unsuited to the age group and it has violence.
Careful about the spoilers below:

Ummm, I read all three books and didn't see ANY sexually explicit material. But maybe the sex was hidden in camouflage. Or maybe a kiss is considered sexually explicit. Ummm... confused at that. As for the "it has violence" -- ummm, DUH! Unsuited to the age group -- that depends on the child. My oldest has read it and seen the film. No, not thirteen yet. LOVED it. Loved all three.

Well, Mein Kampf caused quite a problem...
Yes but if it is banned, then we don't get to educate people about the mistakes made due to what is in that book> That book has value and should not be banned. Nor should it be relegated to where only a select few can have access to it to make sure it is properly studied/utilized/learned.

I am so totally anti banning of books. As for banning hunger games because of sex, violence and unsuitable to age group -- let's start by banning the Bible -- it has ALL those things. Every single one. Yet the people calling for a ban -- many of them use their religion as a reason why hunger games should be banned. The Bible is one of the worst offenders for containing sex, drugs, alcohol, violence...

I agree with you - while the book itself is by no means to be taken lightly, my reference to it was meant in jest.

ETA: And, specifically relating to Mein Kampf - I was making an obtuse reference to the fact that, without the huge amount of money generated by that book, it's entirely possible that the horrible Austrian may never have gotten anywhere.

It's funny, on the Christian radio the other day, the Pastor was talking about biblical family values and how some churches won't marry or accept as members folks have been previously divorced or had children out of wedlock, etc....He then led into how it is virtually impossible to find an "ideal family" in the Bible. Almost every family mentioned was completely dysfunctional--murderers, rapists, slanderers, human traffickers, etc.....

Remove the plank in thine own eye before pointer out the splinter in your brother's.

Dude, much as I love you, you KNOW what I'd do with the duck.

And it would taste delicious.
