What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MA

My divorce papers state that "we will follow the recommendations of the health care professionals". I recently refused to have my children vaccinated for the HPV vaccine and my ex-wife is now serving me with papers for contempt. Background The day that my children were going into the Dr.'s, they texted me to let me know that they were getting this vaccine and I called the Dr's office to tell them NO. At which time I asked the Dr and he stated that my ex-wife called to request the vaccine. Also, even though the divorce does not specifically state this in language, aren't we suppose to consult the other paren't of ALL medical decisions prior to having them done, unless in emergency situations?

A quick question. What's your objection?

Have your children received all of their other vacinations? Why do you object to this one in particular? You may find yourself on shaky ground here as it is a preventative vacination.

I'm thinking Gardasil.

Cervical cancer, when it spreads, ends with a horrible death.

Why someone would not want to protect their child from this is beyond me.

Feel free to chastise me if I'm ASSuming. ;)

They have received all other vaccines. I do not agree with this one due to the drug not being out of clinical trials for very long. There are NO long term study data to find out if this causes any birth defects or other types of cancer related issues. I think that teaching kids that they should be preventative is better. It will not protect against other STD's, so teaching them how to protect themselves is better than teaching them, that there is a shot for everything (because there is not)

I meant this to be stated to you ...

Please educate yourself on what vaccines can do to people and all of the side effects that it can cause. I ALWAYS educate myself before giving my precious children something that can harm them in the future

Did mom confer with dad prior to making a unilateral decision to get the shot? Why would dad be in contempt when he stopped the vaccination prior to the conversation the parent should have had?

Yeah, you might not want to go there given that my background is Phase III/IVb clinical trials (you might want to look that up). I've worked as an independent contractor both "for" and "against" both the FDA and the pharm. companies.

I'm assuming by "I ALWAYS educate myself", you actually mean "I always read the internet reports". Well done.

Mom did not confer with Dad. She never does. I have educated the kids on all vaccines and which ones are important and which ones have serious side effects. The children contacted me on their way to the Dr's office informing me of their mother's decision to have them get the shot. They did NOT want it.

I'm sorry, but what gives you the right to unilaterally decide which vaccines are important and which are not? Please explain.

Are you sure that you are reading my post correctly??? I stated that I am the father and she is the mom and she did NOT consult me and for that matter, NEVER does. I finally put my foot down with the HOV vaccine and her wanting to take my 13 old in for surgery for a mild TMJ condition.

HPV. Not HOV.

I think you need to re-read what I posted. You are telling your CHILDREN which vaccines are important and which are not.

Again I ask, what gives YOU the right to unilaterally decide that?

Frankly you're both at fault. This isn't about the kids' welfare. This is a power play.
