You are all being mean.

Gayle.ja, you can certainly sue for defamation. "That kind of a mother" is pretty vague, but I'm sure you can find a lawyer willing to take your money to file a lawsuit against the manager, and probably the employer as well.

If all you want is an apology, I suspect the manager's attorney will tell the manager to issue the apology in order to resolve the lawsuit.

You do run the risk of being forced to pay the manager's attorney as well as your own. Remember, you do have a right to sue, and there are plenty of hungry lawyers willing to take your money.

my son is an adult. he didn't want me to feel bad that's why he didn't tell me in the beginning.
So he is an adult and can make his own decisions regarding the care HE receives and YOU have nothing to do with any of this. This is basically NONE of your business.

Really? What are OP's damages? What exactly was said? Your son seems to be the one spreading the harm so maybe she should also sue her adult son. After all, without him, OP would know none of this.

Maybe she is a helicopter parent. If so, I feel sorry for her son for having that kind of mother as well.

Oh wait, now she is going to sue me.

Gayle, read Steve's post very carefully. You see that part about having to pay the manager's attorney too? Only people who LOSE their cases have to pay the opposing attorney.

Steve is telling you that if you sue, you will lose.

I'm in awe of your infinite patience and wisdom.

(Not like you don't know that already :p )
