You can take our word for it, those of us who've been through contentious years of custody battles that never seemed to end, whether you can see it or not, you're part of the problem. Mom is for sure bringing her fair share of crazy to the party, but you keep on letting the crazy stay. Figure out why. For the sake of your child, who certainly deserves better from BOTH of you.

You have to realize that the court CANNOT force Mom to stop filing. She can be sanctioned, yes - but she cannot be ordered to stop filing.

Last time she stopped fighting for two years when she spent 37K inlawyer fees fighting.

She will be at 10k this time after the hearing on the 22nd.



Its always someone else's money, when the money stops, she will quit fighting.



Our last hearing she was broken and wanted to stop, and wanted to come to a agreement, until her new husband aquired a new lawyer and told her to keep fighting.

If I would have had an attorney, id be out almost 50,000 dollars like mother, and missed out on the education everyone here helped with.


Due to moms very low income, I dont think they would award me anything. the only reason im not paying fees is because of the conduct clause, mom has brought this on due to her misconduct.


I know mom is getting close to the end, ill know more the night of the 22nd of this month.

Everything will stay the same, but father is to have the final so say, if parties fail to agree for legal custody.

Mom will pick up an extra make up day/overnight following fathers one weekend a month.


Father picked up 2 days a week more for summer vacation. week on/off split.


Child must be in one extra curricular activity during the school year.

Child MUST be in an extracurricular? Stupid, unenforceable, and one whopping heck of a ridiculous thing to saddle the child with. Expect it to be a pain in your neck for years to come. AND understand that your 'final say with legal custody' doesn't pertain to extracurricular activities unless SPECIFICALLY mentioned in your order. Legal custody has to do with the MAJOR decisions that affect a child's SCHOOLING, MEDICAL CARE and RELIGION. Not whether she plays soccer or does dance.

And if the order REALLY says that she must be in ONE, expect Mom to complain if you enroll her in TWO.

Gonna set a timer?

I agree its something the mother wanted and the mediator agreed. the wording doesnt say which parent has to have her in a activity, just that she must be in one. Mother has her in swimming class already, so it is covered.

I have no problem having her in karate or music lessons, or gymnastics, or whatever she may find interesting.

It does state not to interfere with other parents parenting time as well.


No timer, but you do have to watch because the mom will try and stay on for hour if you let her. A few nights I work late and only have a hour or two with her after school [4 nights in a two week period] usually just cuts into bath or homwork time. I do understand the importance and dont mess with her phone time.

New lawyer didnt like the mediation report and wanted to stall.


Sidebar, I talked with the lawyer and she tried to whittle away at the mediation report, and I would have agreed to a few small details, but she really wanted to change everything so I told her all deals off.

She tried to intimidate me with a evidentiary hearing, and I said please go right ahead, two judges before you have stated it would end up right back here where we are now, and I have two different mediators in the last year and a child specialist stating things should stay the way they are now.

I have a first grader right now, and he's my third first grader, and while he occasionally has a math pretest, or spelling words to study, I wouldn't consider ANY of the stuff he brings home to be more important than time with me or any other family member.

Around here, the homework loads have changed drastically since I was a young'un (shortly after the Civil War, so I've been told.) I've sent two kids through this school district, and they both had homework every single night from first grade on. My son is in public PreK and has homework twice a week. It's ridiculous IMO.

That's why I asked. I have a sophomore, a 7th grader, and a 1st grader. My sophomore has NEVER had homework, because she completes everything during lunch or seminar (homeroom). My 7th grader has a little bit every night, and always has, because she doesn't get it done at school. My 1st grader only rarely has anything to do that could be considered homework rather than 'stuff to do at home'.

That said, I STILL don't consider anything that comes home to be more important than speaking to/visiting with the other parent, should the other parent make an effort.
