Recently, I purchased and downloaded some questions that I thought would help me see if I understood the material for my Psychiatric Nursing class. I found these questions by googling the name of the book and the author. A couple of days after the test I recieved and email from the campus police asking me to come in for an interview on academic integrity. I replied and asked what this was about and they responded that I had stolen Pearson test banks and I was using the internet to trasmit them. I figured they were talking about the questions that I had purchased online so I promptly went to their office and brought my computer and the reciept from my credit card with me. During the interview I answered everything to the best of my knowledge and a few days later I was called to the Director of Nurses office. She informed me that I was being placed on Academic Probation and that the whole class was going to have to retake the test and that the investigation was still ongoing. They scheduled the retake of the first test after the drop date and we still had to take the 2nd exam. Leading up to the second exam, I could not eat or sleep and lost weight (this is a bad thing seeing as I am 4 months pregnant). When it came time to take the 2nd exam I failed miserably (I blame it on stress) and I never got to take the retake of the first test since I had to drop the class. I was just wondering if I had a case against the school or against the DON?

It seems like they had an indication of cheating and did some sort of due process hearing and came to a decision. Unless that decision is against school policy, I don't really see how they did anything wrong.

I find it hard to believe that you could "accidentally" purchase stolen test questions. There is a wealth of legitimate practice material out there, I don't think it's that hard to distinguish the legal stuff.

That's your opinion. I know what happened and I am asking for advice, not your opinion. :)
Seems to me that when they tested you on information that you did NOT cheat on, you failed miserably. May I suggest you fine a different line of work? Your future patients really deserve somebody who learned the material. Would YOU want your delivery nurse to have squeaked through by cheating?

First off, the test they were accusing me of cheating on did not use the questions from the questions I had purcahsed. Secondly, you try not eating or sleeping for 4 days and then take a test.. I know the material I just feel that I am getting accused wrongly by the school since I have shown them EXACTLY how I obtained the questions.

As a nurse, you will be required to handle much more stressful situations. Seriously, find another line of work.

Which is exactly the reason you have no case for your situation if they followed school policy. Imagine your boss taking you to task, you falling apart, going to work in this condition and accidentally killing someone. A true college curricula is a test of both intelligence AND endurance. You failed under one of the criteria for your school of study. I suggest you pick a different field where you might excel.

As I stated before I am looking for legal advice. Not to be put down. You DO NOT know the situation as I do nor how the school I attend operates so suggesting that I find another line of work is FUTILE at best and you are just wasting your time. Like I said IF YOU DO NOT PLAN ON GIVING ME LEGAL ADVICE PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF TIME AND DO NOT RESPOND. THANK YOU;):)

Yes, you proved to them that you are capable of cheating.

I'm giving you legal advice. Most nursing programs don't like cheaters and most nursing employers don't like people with a low threshold for stress.

Not even a whisper of a "case."

I would suggest you meet with someone from your school and find out what you need to do to regain your good academic standing. And start eating and sleeping again.

I gave you legal advice. Unlike others, I even gave you the benefit of the doubt regarding the source of the test answers. It takes mental endurance to succeed as a nurse. You do not appear to posses that characteristic.
