I'm a Northern Girl
Consider this:
When I was fourteen, a crowd of both parents and students were crossing the street at the bottom of a hill outside my high school. They had the right of way. A car, driven by a drunk driver, came careening over the hill and plowed into the crowd. Two of my schoolmates were killed, one blinded, one permanently injured. None of them had been drinking or violating the law in any way, and they were where they were supposed to be.
This was the first time that I, or many of my schoolmates, ever really "got" that someone our age could die. You might be lucky enough not to have learned that lesson yet. But it's something that never leaves you. That accident happened more than 40 years ago and I can still tell you the date of the accident and the names of those involved.
I have also visited a young man, still in his teens, in jail after an alcohol related incident killed his best friend. I cannot even imagine how he lives with himself.
Yes, I have strong feelings about underage drinking. If it's really not that important to you as you say, why do it? Is it really that important to defy authority?
