Look, you have given no reason why the info would be needed or not. If you don't want to give it up, then don't. Deal with the results, whatever they may be.

(2)therefore being faced with doing something similar to A yourself isn't a big deal

isn't a valid argument, but I prefer to use plain English and vivid counter-examples whenever possible.

While it is usually illegal (Absent any of a number of exceptions alluded to by all the questions having to do with the purpose of the asking in the first place.) to DISCRIMINATE on the basis of age in education, I don't see where it is illegal to ask--or demand--age from a student in the classroom or in a school setting. And, weight is not protected at all except in employment in some states.
