What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Indiana

Ok so I told a friend about this forum and he asked me to ask a question.

He was born in Mexico, but has lived in the US since he was 3. His parents moved him to CA and he is now in his late 20's. He moved here to IN because of his specialized work. One of the jobs he did he was paid in a truck. a really nice truck. and the title was signed over to him......

However, he now has to register that truck. Without a valid license and only bearing a Mexican passport, he is now concerned. I have offered to see if I can help him.

What are his options? Work visa through my company? And what are the legal ramifications of that? Is there any law that allows the children of illegal immigrants who are here of no choice of their own to apply for citizenship?

Please help, and thank you in advance.

So he is driving illegally? He has more issues than what this board can do. He needs to talk to an immigration attorney immediately.

He had up until age 21 to file for immigration benefits. Now, he's at a distinct disadvantage and it's going to be virtually impossible to change status from inside the US.

He's not driving at all......I do the driving.....or other friends.

I think you're missing the point. At this juncture, his mere presence is a problem. Add to that his working under the table, and you've got major options.

Out of interest, what does your company do and what position would be offering?

Major OPTIONS? Or Problems?

Second question is kind of irrelevant.

He is an elite athlete, and in my research I noted the naturalization availability for extraordinary circumstances, such as an athlete. Is this feasible?

He really doesn't HAVE many options at this point (it was a typo, obviously).

But let's look at the timeline.

His parents came...when?

Their status is....what?

(forget naturalization at this point - it isn't relevant just yet and you're putting the cart way before the horse)

DACA may be a reach for this OP and for several reasons.

But nothing saying s/he can't investigate further: http://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/consideration-deferred-action-childhood-arrivals-process

DACA May Very Well be Viable

I work in immigration law for a major non profit organization.

If your friend has documented proof that he arrived in this country prior to the age of 16 years and has been a resident in this country continuously since June 15 2007 and that he has obtained a high school diploma or a GED or is currently enrolled in a GED program and if he has no major criminal offences against him, he may qualify for DACA.

In some states (not mine), DACA does enable a party to apply for a driver's license. I do not know if Indiana allows same.

But, your friend should get himself to the nearest non profit immigration law entity to see what can be done for him.

Godspeed.

It is not the dream act but it is something. Should your friend qualify for DACA, he will be given a two year work authorization in this country that, so far, may be renewed.

Thanks. Is there a resource where I can find this entity locally?

There are many non pprofits

Thanks. Is there a resource where I can find this entity locally?
who are assisting in this DACA endeavor. Just google DACA for your area. I do not think I can advertise my non profit but again, there are several religious and non religious non profits who are working on this project.

From what you have posted, I do, in my very humble opinion, believe that your friend may qualify for DACA.
Sorry for the typo in the header.
