Pennsylvania here.

My 9 year old daughter just informed me and her step mom that her mom allowed her to drink and try different wines. It has happen more then once we just found out.

My ex's family are big drinkers and my ex's dad has been in and out of rehab over the last 30 years. It's a huge concern for me and we don't drink in our family household so it is a big deal to us. I sent an email to my attorney but I haven't heard back yet. I wanted to go to police with it but something is telling me to wait till I hear from the Attoney. In the mean time, should I call CPS?

Has anyone else ever dealt with this before.

We have 50/50 custody over the summer and then I have my daughter every other weekend and 2 days during the week each week.

Thank you ahead of time.

I'm on the fence about calling CPS on this one. Wait a reasonable amount of time to hear back from your attorney.

Can I ask why you think that? Just wondering what your thinking on this. I just feel that letting kids drink under age is horribly wrong and it's illegal.

Just want to clarify - does Mom live in PA as well? Simply because laws do vary between states.

Now, I'll be honest - this is not a hot-button issue for me. In my state, it is permissible for a minor to be furnished alcohol by a parent. I have always believed that by making alcoholic beverages non-taboo, it leads to a lower mystique. Both of mine were permitted to try various types of wine from a relatively young age, and both knew that they were allowed to have a drink here at home with family - but that I would not serve their friends. As a result, I never had to deal with drinking & driving, coming home from parties drunk, etc. Even now, both are responsible drinkers.

Parents in PA can serve wine to their underaged children in their own home as part of a religious-type ceremony. (Just FYI)

Yes I am dad. Yes we are
Both in pa. My ex wife's entire family likes to drink but with our 9 year old i feel is completely wrong and not appropriate at all.

Not everyone shares that belief. There is no immediate threat of harm. Wait a reasonable time to hear back from your attorney.
