My daughter was on an All-Star cheer team and left the team after 5 months. We signed a contract that included a code of conduct and, of course, a 'no refunds' clause. I paid for the 11-month program in full up front in a lump sum.
Over the course of the 5 months I also paid separately for a third of the competition fees, music, choreography, insurance, USAF registration, a personalized bin that is kept in the gym, a sponsorship T-shirt, a warm-up suit, a uniform, practice gear, sneakers, competition bow, and a bag. When my daughter left the team we had not yet received the warm-up suit, uniform, sponsorship t-shirt, competition bow, or bag, and the bin is still in the gym.
I asked the coach/gym owner if she would be interested in buying any of those things back from me (so she could have extra on-hand), and she informed me that I would not be receiving those items since my daughter left the team and I signed a contract that says 'no refunds'. I understand that I am not entitled to a refund for any of the money I spent, however I do not understand how I can purchase items (like the uniform and warm-up suit) and not receive them AND not receive back my money.
She has $600 worth of merchandise that she is refusing to give me.
What can I do?

Take your contract to an attorney and get their opinion on your options.

I also thought about the possibility of going to the gym to pick up my merchandise and if she refuses to give me these things I've paid for, call the cops. Thoughts?

The police tell you it is a civil matter. Which it is. File in SCC for the items/value.

I have a story that is somewhat similar, but with a twist. When my daughter was young she played soccer. It was a big deal daughter/daddy activity. Soccer was usually a fall season and a spring season. Each being about 8 weeks long. At one point some parents within the league decided to form a year long league with the idea of a strong soccer team going into the high school several years down the road, which would give scholarship opportunities to the players.

My ex was big on that and wanted our daughter to participate. He was so big on it that he donated all of the uniforms. After a year our daughter went from loving soccer to hating it because instead of it being 8 weeks twice a year it became her entire life. At that point my ex and I eventually agreed that she would quit.

The team actually attempted to sue us for not returning our daughter's uniforms...the uniforms that my ex donated to the team.
