If everything could be a simple Google search, then why are you even here and what's the purpose of this site if all the answers to life are found on their site. Thanks for your expert advice.
I DON'T know the answer to my question. And honestly, what's up with the hostility. I'm just a average person trying to get advice. I thought this was called freeadvice. I was looking for sites that offer confidential attorney advice online. The person before stated you can't do that...
That was my thought. Maybe they have some kind of monitoring system. I suppose that could exist. At the same time, the credit bureau or company requesting my credit report that I paid would still have to alert others that I looked into it. Coincidence as one of the others stated? It would be...
I'd like to just ask some basic questions about my situation. After a legal expert can answer me, at that point I very well may retain the attorney. But I don't need to throw down a lot of money for an attorney if I'm not really sure if I need one. That's why I'm hoping there is some kind of...
Appreciate your answer. But I have to respectfully disagree. I got an attorney who I never talked with or met in person. I found him on Avvo 3 years ago for some legal issue. I retained him and everything was done electronically. If I needed to sign anything it was an electronic signature...
My very first question on this site was pertaining to attaining confidential, one on one legal advice from a legitimate attorney. quincy and adjustjack helped me out alot and I think we all came to the conclusion that I should get an attorney and not a free site like this. I've heard of...
Who or what would have alerted them to check my credit report? So I went to a bankruptcy attorney to discuss my options. I’m undecided if I should file or negotiate the debt. Consequently, I didn't neccesarily want to wake up a sleeping dog. We pulled my credit report. I have had no debt...
I will be contacting an attorney who specializes in debt and bk for sure. However, if you had any other cases you could link to me, it'd be much appreciated. I've found that sometimes you gotta point attorneys in the right direction. And it won't hurt to come prepared with information that my...
I agree quincy. I could see this interpreted several ways. But based on the case aj linked to, I suspect the owner of the debt would have a difficult time in court. It seems to imply, at least to me, if you were working or engaged in any type of commerce, they could not toll the SOL.
Thanks again for your opinions and analysis aj & quincy. Sorry was outta town for the weekend. In response to your question: I moved out of state for work and the weather tbh lol. So my take from the Drumm v Brekken case was it would be difficult for any party to toll a case. Unless the...
Yes, it's definitely a good thing, lol. Transunion and Equifax show no judgements, but concerned they adopted Experian's policy of not showing judgements. 15 years ago, I got a surprise judgement. Don't remember ever getting properly served. But somehow there was a judgement. I'm afraid...
I just don't understand how this tolling is applicable if true. Everyone moves, whether they have debt or not. If true, this seems to imply that anyone who moves to a different state that has any outstanding unpaid debt would be on the hook indefinitely.
I always thought that, but I've read a couple articles that the bureaus no longer report civil judgements. Here is one article from Experian
https://www.experian.com/blogs/ask-experian/judgments-no-longer-included-on-credit-report/
Is there a free or paid online site that I can search nationwide for civil judgements? I looked through the county records online in my home state. Nothing. However, I want to assure myself there is not a judgement out there somewhere that I'm not aware of.
Up until a month ago, I knew very little on debt laws, statute of limitations, tolling, etc..And to the people viewing this, I've learned more on this site with 1 question, than all the other legal help sites like avvo, quora, justia..Thanks again quincy and adjusterjack!
Until I return or until located? So, if I never return, wouldn't the suing party/debt collector have to "locate" me within a reasonable amount of time, or can it go indefinitely? Maybe you guys can see why I need someone in expertise with SOL laws, haha
