Insurance termination while still married

What is the name of your state? NJ


I have been terminated from my health insurance (which was thru my husbands union) without warning or cobra information. I was removed by a local union because my husband faked divorce papers. The health plan manager at the union knows we are still married and that the divorce paper is a fake but still will not return my coverage. I was wondering if I can do something about this.

We live in NJ but the union is in PA. Any help would be greatly appreciated I have a medical condition that requires month dr visits and medficine which i had to do without for 2 weeks and I was very ill during that time

How many employees does your husband's employer have?
Does your husband pay part of the insurance premium, and if so, is it deducted from his paycheck pre tax or post tax?
How long ago did this happen?

The answers to all three of these questions are vital to determining what, if any, recourse you have.

It is a union there are thousands of members

It is deducted from the pay check pre tax

He got me terminated 12/19/04 with the false papers

Thank you again for any help. I know about cobra but the problem is I can not get cobra unless I am divorceed I am not - but that is the reason my insurance was terminated.

I called the DOL in Philadelphia and a benefits specialist ius calling to see why I was not notified or sent cobra paer work I know that 44 days is what they have to get it to me. They would have never sent it unless I called and told them to.

I have beden going to the dentist and dr not knowing they were canceled and now i have huge bills that I have to pay I need there services. I know that people who are married should support one another so he may be liable for half these costs but that would be decided in the divorce I assume.

Again thank you I really need help with this - one more question what area of law would this be I reallly want to get a lawyer but I dont know what area would best fit my problems

Are you aware that no one is being paid to sit here and answer your questions? We are all sitting in front of our computers in our offices and homes, just like you, spending our free time on this forum. It's very, very annoying when someone posts so many threads on the same topic. It wastes my time, and I don't appreciate it.

You could at least display a tiny bit of courtesy to people who are spending their free time giving you free legal advice. Or, here's a thought: pay a couple hundred bucks (or more) an attorney to meet with you in person, and ask him/her the same question four times. At least then it will be on your dime.

No I think someone is getting paid. Apparently you are having a bad day and need to take it out on other people who have no affect on your life, If i did not need help with this asap I would have just put it anywhere. SInce the areas overlap I did not know which area would be the best place for the question.

Why dont you just skip the duplicates and they were no exact duplicates either there are several issues that belong in several areas. If you actually read them you would see that any information that is useful I greatly appreciate and thank the person for.

You are just harrasing me because you have your own problems and apparently like to take them out on other people. Dont like what you see dont read it. Are you the moderator of the forum? Is there one? Maybee instead of harrasing people about forum posts you could use your oh so valuble time for something else.

I came here to get advice not to have some grumpy introvert harrasing me about my postings.

You need to work out your issues and leave strangers alone, unless you are running the site or are the moderator of the forum.

As a contributor to this forum, I have a right to politely ask that you cease and desist from posting multiple threads about the same topic, which wastes everyone's time when they click on each thread, only to learn they're duplicates. I did politely ask you. You then responded by calling me several negative names. All of this with the hope of receiving free advice from professionals. Strange strategy, that.

I have no intention to do favors (i.e., give free advice) to anyone who refuses to observe basic good manners towards me. This shouldn't be a surprise.

If you do not want to give advice that is fine. This is a waste of time. You complain about me wasting others time you have spent more time on this then anyone should. Funny how you complained that it is a waste of time but you must like to harass because you keep harping on this. I am sure it is not the first time someone has had problems that can go in more than thread. Any help thru here is really not that usefull anyway because you dont know who it is comming from. You really sholuld relax, taking this a little seriously. You can just not read or reply to anything I write I dont want your advice or opion or whatever.

I was prepared to answer your questions but seeing how you've responded purple and patty I'm not so sure I want to any more. If I give you an answer you don't like are you going to take it out on me?

abvously no one gets paid. If you read the posts I got no answeer from anyone just harrasment obviously this is the first time I have posted to this forum and there are no good guidelines for where posts should go and If purple2 had a suggestion on which forum would have been better to post it in that would have been appreciated. Any one should relieze that if someone is posting here they must noit be having as good time with there divorce or whatever and posting to more than one thread is not the end of the world.

If he had given some advice and I reacted to his advice then your point may have been valid but I was reacting to someone accusing me of wasting there time.


Usually forums are moderated for these type of issues, these forums should be moderated so that angry people are not the ones telling others the rules.

The advice on this site is not really worth anything to me because i dont know who these people are that are responding.

As for you I dont want your advice anyway I already knowe about the cobra laws.

I am already being harrased enough I came here for some annoymous advice not some angry people who go thru looking for minor infractions and dont offer a solution just harrasmnet.

I was going to appoligize to all but after this There is no reason to I hope the site own decides to have some moderators. If you even read what my problem was it is obvious that it belongs in more than one area - since there is no place for that I put it up. Thanks for your bad attitude and if you want to get paid get a job and dont hang out in free advice forums. If I wanted to pay someone I would have if someones time is that valuble maybe they should not be in any free forums.

The rulkes should be clearly stated and if what i did was so bad why dont the people that run the site ban me. I posted a problem to 4 different but related threads big deal you people with the valuble time sure wasted a lot on this. A simple - this belongs here and this here post would have cleared it up.
