Her boyfriend cut down the stop sign and threw it on the road.
So on top of it all, he's a litterbug.

In addition to "criminal mischief".

Also, report the missing sign to your local highway dept., or whoever maintains that road, so they can get a work order to replace it.

This thread is another example of what to me, seems to be a disturbing new trend in home ownership. People seem to be so worried about encroachments of any kind that they are willing to go to extremes to remove/defend against those encroachments.

We have seen that over and over on these forums...people that are so worried about a fence that is a few inches in the wrong direction, a retaining wall that is the same, an outbuilding that may encroach a few inches or many other small things that in the past would have been considered to be minor and irrelevant, which now appear to be taken so seriously that people go overboard, to an extreme, to defend against them.

The homeowner in this instance certainly seems to be behaving in an absurd manor that could well get her arrested.

There are plenty of jurisdictions in my area that use both wooden and metal post for stop signs or road signs such as yield or curve signs and a few places use wood post for road and street names too. I suspect what has happend re more people being concerned about encroachments is that the cost of fighting thru the courts has become for some people to be astronomical amounts. At one time so called gentlemans agreements about things like shared driveway maintenance issues such as adding gravel , snow removal no one had a problem keeping but as society has become more hostile and that includes to so called neighbors , so Dale your neighbor is going to find out the hard way about her choices so could you post final results for us ?
