I'm a Northern Girl
I have a half-brother who is a full generation younger than I am. The poor kid essentially has six parents, but that's another story.

My father was the disciplinarian. My step-mother would let him get away with almost anything. You know which of his parents my brother has the most respect for? The one who set down the rules and made him obey them, that's which one.

Stealth, I understand your point about the word "hate". However, very few words in my house are outlawed... in an attempt to remove their power. I understand why it is an ugly word... but to see her face the first time she shouted it at me and I just said, "well, I love you... and like you. but I can't let that behavior go unpunished."
That is, I think, the only word I will not have here.

Anyway... I think we all need to go do some shoveling.

My step sons Danny and David are true testaments of what happens when a parent chooses to be a friend instead of their mom. She was so unwilling to be a parent that now she doesn't have to be.

Rest in Peace, Danny & David.

My daughter phone went off again but with very different end result for her. .
I'm just so shocked that Princess didn't learn the FIRST time!!! I mean, really. Where's the gratitude for Daddy bailing her out the first time? How could she NOT learn a lesson based on the consequences meted out with the first offense. Oh, wait. Daddy made sure there were no consequences. Huh... who wudda thunk that she'd do it again? Other than 99.9% of the people reading this thread.....

ETA: Thank God for Mom. At least Princess may now have a fighting chance to be a productive citizen some day.
