Can we charge a customers card for their debt

Zigner - sorry - you are correct that the answer was given that NO it cannot be done - but seriously - there was no need for your rudeness to state that I wanted to STEAL from someone - - that was not the case at all. It's a shame that along withe the "free" advice - you have to tolerate the rudeness to get that free advice. You couldn't just answer the question.
It wasn't rude...you are just overly sensitive because you were called out on it.

Sorry to disappoint you but I'm not overly sensitive - just don't appreciate someone making a statement about me that isn't true - but then again - you know what I was thinking - right? What am I thinking now ;)

Honey, we didn't pick on that guy as much as we picked on the moron running around giving bad advice. Ziggy joined in on that on too, huh Ziggy?? :D

What if the customer/client AGREED to a payment schedule and allowed their cc # and info to be kept on file so that it could be ran per the agreement and the card is declined on the agreed upon day of charge...

The customer/client does not return any phone calls or respond to any correspondence sent.

Can you attempt to charge the card for the agreed upon amount at a later date?? Even if you don't hear from them??

That's a great question!!! How about that??? For the future - - is this LEGAL??

Whether YOU think it is or not, or intended it as such, the fact it, taking money without the appropriate agreement in advance is STEALING. Zigner characterized it exactly correctly.

If you accepted orders based on other means to pay, and they fail to pay, you can certainly demand payment. But you can't just make up a check because you know their account number, even though if they issued a check, that would be payment. You can't just make up a card charge, even though if they authorized the charge, that would be payment. You CAN refuse to take future orders from them ... even prepaid ones.

As for charging much later in time, you will need to refer to your merchant agreement.
