Hi this is my first posting, and I have a simple question. My nephew is 17 and dating someone I believe that is 15 or close to 16 and then been together for 1 year, does he have to end the relationship once he turns 18, which is next month, or not?
I believe he does, but well, teenagers being as they are don't believe anyone over 30 yrs old tells me no. So is he going to be a craddle robber or not when he turns 18 nd dating a 15-16 yr old?

It actually depends on your state laws of consent. I believe in my state, the legal age of consent is 16 if the other person is under 21.

LITCHFIELDConn. - Two women have been arrested for allegedly allowing a sexual relationship between their children.

State police arrested the two mothers Tuesday, accusing them of condoning a relationship between a 14-year-old girl and a 24-year-old man.

State police arrested Lorraine Pereira, 42, in Torrington, Conn., the mother of a 24-year-old convicted sex offender. She was charged with risk of injury to a minor and is now out on a $5,000 bond.

Pereira is the mother of Nathaniel Pereira, a twice-convicted sex offender ordered on two prior occasions by a judge to stay away from underage girls. Pereira was taken into state custody last month.

Police have charged a 32-year-old Goshen woman, the mother of the 14-year-old girl, with risk of injury to a minor.

According to the arrest warrant, Nathaniel Pereira spent several nights with the young girl in a motel room in Goshen, Conn., and his home in Torrington, where he lived with his mother.

"This is a sensitive investigation. It involves a young female and therefore we're doing everything we can to protect that female's identity," said State Police Sgt. Paul Vance.

No matter what you have to check your states laws for age of consent.


Trust me, I tried getting a 30 year old man arrested for dating my 16 year old friend some years ago, and they couldn't do anything because 16 was the legal age of consent in that state.

THE MOST your son would face if the girl is over the age of 16 at the time of consumation and him turning 18, would be 30 days in jail and a $30 fine for "Fornication" which is still on the books.

If she is NOT 16 at the time he turns 18, tell him to start practicing his signature for use when the court places him on the Sexual Preditor list for his state.

More importantly, is your nephew prepared to raise a child yet? Because, guess what happens when young, irresponsible (and they are horny teenagers, they ARE irresponsible), teens have sex? They have babies!
