Every time I post a thread here, nothing shows up so I am forced to edit and re-post. Why is this?
What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California.
I went to a Western Dental office specifically for treatment of cavities and later for braces. When I was being treated for braces, I believe the dentist took it upon himself without even informing me, to file down my two front upper teeth. When I asked Western Dental about this, they claimed to have no record of it. But is this not a convenient ploy to escape culpability? They cannot claim that since I consented to treatment, they are not responsible, because I only consented to treatment for the cavities, not cosmetics. What are my rights? Please, only serious and knowledgeable people reply.
If you were treated for cavities there will be a record of the treatment done. And there would be a billing record to correlate this too.
If you were treated for braces, there should be x-rays, study models and before and after photos. Comparison would have to be done.
Sounds like you need to have another doctor request your records, review the treatment and get this explained to you as you seem to have hit an impasse.
In California, you can make a complaint to the State Dental Board and they will look into the request. Since Western Dental is high on their list of problematic businesses, you should get a proper review of your case and a decision as to if the treatment was proper.
That might be your best way to proceed immediately.
And it is a sorry situation when the State Board of Dental Examiners knows of problems but aren't forward in letting consumers know the problems that they are aware of.
