You do realize that when a gun is purchased through an FFL it doesn't get added to a database that anyone including the feds can look at to see who owns the gun? The feds can't fire up their computer and see how many guns I own.
That is the current problematic situation, which should be changed by law.

If such law is deemed unconstitutional by SCOTUS ruling, then the Constitution should be modified.

All of that to report stolen guns? Really? It isn't like they are cars that drive around with tags that can be seen by any police officer that happens to drive by.

The only reason anyone wants universal gun registration is to know where the guns are so they can come and get them.
