FYI, abuse is not a reason for emancipation. It may be a reason to be taken out of the home, but it will not get you emancipated. In any state. Not on its own. You still have to meet all the other requirements.

And, h-anon, if you have a record of shoplifting, that's one more very good reason why you will not be emancipated.

On the very rare occasions when emancipation is granted, it is only to those minors who have both the means and the ability to support themselves (and in many states must already be living outside the home), have demonstrated sufficient maturity to assure the judge that they will able to live by themselves and not become a burden to society, and have a clean record.

Since in your other thread you have indicated that you have been caught shoplifting twice, you fail the last two points.

You think your mom controls you too much? Most likely as in you're fifteen and reallllllllllllly want to date that 19 year old that swears he likes you more than any girl ever - right?
Well try having two parents that each get two checks a month with close to 3 grand on them, them buying you old moldy bread and milk because its cheaper, you wearing the same clothes for the past 2 years, and getting physically and mentally abused every single night cause dad drank an 18 pack and moms downed more than a fifth of whiskey.
Cause that is what I go through...and not even I can get emancipated.

I thought you lived with your grandfather... the one that got you when you were caught shoplifting.

There is only a few months before I am 18. I am getting ready to move with a friend and get a job at her uncles company. As soon as I get some money I am going to get health/dental insurance [cause I havent been to the dentist in the last five years]. It is too ridiculous to get DHS involved because if I did they wouldn't believe me cause my parents fake happiness so well [being my mom is teacher and my dad is a salesman]. there wouldnt be a way to prove that im verbally abused and i do not bruise unless i get hit really hard so there is not physical evidence.

I live in McKinney Texas I am fifteen and I want to get emancipated for the fact that I cannot stand living with my mom anymore she is so controlling. I just want to get out. How would I start this process?
