I don't know who kelly is but it is not me I have been on this site before about a year and half two years ago. I hadn't needed to come back on here until just now. And I'm sorry but to agree with spanking with a belt well I can't even comprehend what kind of person could agree with that. My children behave very well and we have never had to beat them to get them to obey. To make a child fear you is ok? Respect yes but fear Never

While your sitting up on your high horse preaching about 'beating' (which no one said it was beating) children, go look at statistics since this whole NO SPANKING thing came into effect. How many drive by shootings went on when children WERE spanked and punished at appropriate times. Parents have lost control of children because they don't want to spank their children, scared they are going to hurt their self esteem! PLEASE!! My children are well rounded and mind. We are now a society who allow the children to be the ones with the power and when we can't deal with it, what do we do? We go get OURSELVES on medication because many of those same parents won't put their children on medication and many of those that do have their children on medication wouldnt' have to if they disciplined.... yes INCLUDING SPANKING when needed.

I'm not preaching and my children do get disciplined along with millions of other kids who get disciplined without spankings with belts. My children when they were little did get slaps on the hands for things like reaching for a hot stove ect... Spanking a child with a belt is a completely different ball game. My children are straight A students have never gotten in any kind of trouble and we are very strict. We don't need to beat them with a belt or spoon or whatever. I was never spanked growing up. Did I do drive by's no. Did I do drugs No did I do anything illegal NO. There are different ways to disipline. Spanking with your hand on there butt ok. But using a belt on there butt and legs? Taking a spoon to there hands that is going to far. Can you honestly tell me you don't think spanking a child with a belt multiple times for running outside to get a toy in there underwear is appropriate? The child didn't hurt anyone or act terrible.. I don't want to think about what the punishement would be for sever misbehavior. I agree you gave me the legal answer. That is what we were looking for. We now know as much as it hurts us to think about the child getting spanked with a belt for such a small thing that we can't do anything about it. Thank you for your help.

My last belt from my dad was at the age of 9. I am one of 5 girls and grew up in a very strict military home. I thank my Dad every day for this at his grave site.
