What does your attorney have to say about this?

She said, lets try a settlement conference first with the OC and my ex, and if that doesnt work out, a GAL will have to be involved.

I came here on this forum with a thinking that 50/50 is in the best interest of the children and my attorney is aware of what my top priority is "our kids need to spend equal time with both parents".

SMH - the point is that you need to be taking your concerns to your attorney, not random strangers on the internet. None of us are in a position to be aware of all the relevant details that pertain to your matter.

"Need"?

"Kids need to spend equal time with both parents" - that's not necessarily in their best interest, especially once they start school. I think you are being unrealistic. A 50/50 time share takes both parents working together. If parents are NOT co-parenting well, a school age child can feel more like they are a ping pong ball.

Are you really into "the best interests of the children" or are you trying to avoid child support/alimony?

For some children 50/50 could be in the best interest of the children, for others it might not be. In some instances 50/50 might only benefit the parents, not the children.

For children, stability is the key.

There are also many ways that 50/50 can look - it doesn't necessarily mean 7/7 or 5/2/2/5, etc...

ETA: 3 nights every weekend = 156 overnights. Say you get 1 month in the summer = 30 overnights. That alone is 186, or .51% of the year. That's before adding holidays or extended weekends. Do your math before insisting on things...
