What is the name of your state? wisconsin

my husband and his ex-wife have joint custody and 50/50 placement of their two children. she has them one week, he has them the next. she recently sent him a list of expenses, saying he owes her half. The list included: handcream, hair gel, school supplies, school lunches and registration, clothes, just to name a few items. When the children are with us they wear clothes that we bought them...nothing goes back and forth...we also buy them handcream and hair gel, which also stays at our house. In the beginning of the school year, we paid for 90 days of lunches and milk for each child, plus 1/2 the registration fee. We also bought them school supplies...but did not buy them backpacks because we bought them new ones for the 2002-03 school year and they are as good as new, and we didn't charge her for them...she bought them new ones for this year, and charged us for the ones she bought. In the divorce agreement, it states that they may elect to share the expenses for things they only need one of...like winter coats and boots. We have always just bought them on our own...and haven't charged her anything. So my husband goes to his lawyer today with the list and the lawyer said that he will probably have to pay half??? huh? why? How is it possible that she, with out his consent is allowed to spend his money? they are divorced for goodness sakes! In addition to all this, she is moving for sole placement during the school year, on the basis that my husband refuses to communicate with her about the children's activities. she is talking about reglion, because she is catholic and he no longer is, and she signed them up for ccd that requires parent participation. on his weeks he said that he would meet her at church with them, so she can participate, and she said no way. can shared placement be taken away from him because of his failure to commuicate and that he won't split expenses with her?

she does get child support too...not much, because she is a professional, and only makes a little less then he does. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

pay the bill then start sending her his bills for everything he buys.

Or stay out of it.

What does the court order state pertaining to those items that she listed on her expense report?

If there is nothing in the court order specifically requesting your husband to pay over and above the child support, then he is not court ordered to pay for half the items she gave you and expense report for.

Oberauerdorf, I would honestly copy the divorce and custodial order and write the ex a note, when you can find where I need to pay for half of everything you buy, then I will expect the same in return.

Ok type exactly in the paragraph that you stated this.
The court states that they can elect to share items like outerware and boots, but he has elected not to.

in october when she was picking up the kids one night, she placed the envelope which included the list on the stairs, didn't say a thing to him about it, or even let him know it was there and then sent him an e-mail the next day asking if he found it.

her lawyer sent his lawyer a copy of this list, but no reciepts were attached

Ok did your attorney respond to this or just forward this on to you?

Were the receipts copied in the letter she put on your stairs?

Really it would help anyone trying to give you advice ASAP if you get the order out and type verbatim what I asked you to type.
