Congratulations to Wild! You go girl!

Big kiddo and I both have Pantech Impacts. ALL I want to be able to do is call and text. I don't even have my voice mail set up....as I told someone recently, "if I set up my voice mail I can't pretend not to have gotten calls from people I didn't want to talk to in the first place!"

For her birthday, my oldest used her birthday money from her grandmother to buy a new phone (the mytouch 3). She just HAD to have it. I refused to pay for the thing because I had just bought her a new, rather nice, little phone with a few months before after she literally broke her old phone from texting too much, but I did agree to add the data plan. (Thank heavens I had read the horror stories of $400,000 bills from texting and went ahead and added unlimited texting onto my plan....). So, she buys the phone, I take the 'old' phone and we're happy.

4 months later (2 weeks ago) she asks me to trade phones with her because she can't stand the droid. It doesn't have an acutal keyboard, just an onscreen keyboard and she can't text as fast or as well with it. So....I got a brand new phone (I was seriously considering buying one for myself)! I love the thing! She loves her 'old' phone and....we're happy. :p

CJane...congrats to your daughter. She worked hard. She must be very proud of herself (as she should be) and I know you are proud of her. :)

i like life without a cell phone. no one fussing at me that i won't pick up the phone while i'm in class, or in a school meeting. when i'm in my car...i can raise the volume because i don't have to worry about not hearing the phone ring and some jerk on the other end mad cuz i didn't pick up on the 1st ring. i like not being reached. ;)

When registering The Boy for kindergarten the other day, I had to fill in my home phone, my cell phone, work phone, and my pager number if applicable.

Yes, I laughed out loud. :p

I bought my very first cell phone specifically so that I could answer my pager when it went off.

Gawd, I'm old...

My dad's first pager for work wasn't even the kind you could enter a number in for it to display....it was all voice! You had to call it, leave a verbal message and hang up....then it would sound like a walkie talkie when the message came through!

kind of reminds me of the movie Butterfield 8 with elizabeth taylor. she had answering service she called in to check her messages, from any phone she called from.

when humans actually took messages!! and actually delivered them!
