Your state has no relevance to this post so therefore this post was not helpful or did nothing but take up space. Please do not give advice unless it applies to the OPs situation. Your friend's case has nothing to do with it at all and it is possible to be a psychological parent depending on a variety of factors. Again then, don't post if you dont' know the law in the OPs state.
Hmm.... Thought this was a Free ADVICE Forum.....get advice, receive advice. You gave yours and I gave mine. Seems as this site has more "moderators" trying to find something to argue about, instead of letting it be what it is, " A FREE ADVICE FORUM". Didnt' cost you a thing for me to post, except your wasted time on that sarcastic reply. Atleast I was sincere in trying to offer advice, all you want to do is criticize.

To be honest though, you didn't give advice. You told a story. At no point in your post did you give actual advice.

You are right I did tell a story, sometimes knowledge can be gained from a story. Atleast that's what I think, and I did say at the end of my post that it does depend on her state and the judge.

Thanks for not being as critical as others, I just get so tired of reading an interesting post and then see where it goes from Q & A to name calling, cursing, and just plain junk.

Now that being said, if my post was taking up space, and you were so concerned about it taking up space, what the crap is all of this doing? Boy some people like to eat crow or space! (not meant for u Neal1421) by the way my maiden name is Neal we might be related :)

Umm...newbie...OG IS an attorney. This is a LEGAL ADVICE website -- NOT a "free advice" site. BIG difference. People like you think because you create an account and ask a question, you are "qualified" to start giving legal advice to others.

Bzzt. Thanks for playing, but have a seat.

Yours was NOT legal advice and had nothing to do with the OP's post. Period. Learn it or get out.

So you think because you tossed in a disclaimer, that makes it OK?? Knowledge from what?! YOUR story. I had to sit down I was laughing so hard. The OP had been given proper legal advice. If you want to tell stories, go to Lifetimetv.com or drphil.com.

I think you need to check that again GrowUp, now in the left hand corner of your computer screen near the top it says FREE ADVICE.

Your "story" has no confirmed FACTUAL information in it. Your "story" is nothing more than a fairy tale. It doesn't matter if it actually happened or not, YOU were not there to hear the information first hand. Any advice that starts with "Well, I heard from my brother's, roommates, ex-girlfriend's, neighbor's parrot that a judge told THEM......" has no relevance anywhere. Even if you WERE in the courtroom and heard the information first hand, your "story" is only ONE opinion, by ONE judge given SPECIFICALLY for ONE case, based on ONE set of circumstances. You did not hear the judge tell many different people, involved in many different cases, this same advice.

It has nothing to do with "taking up space". It is very frustrating to have to continually correct misleading or blatantly incorrect information posted by people that have no idea what they are talking about.

It actually can be more damaging when you are posting "advice" about a different state than the OP's. The US might as well be 50 different countries when it comes to the law.

Especially when the "advice" being given is nothing more then 2nd hand information.
