I think that you mean the personal exemption for the child. The standard deduction has to do with filing status.

Ha!! My dad had a coworker whose wife was pregnant and due just after the new year. They asked for her to be induced early, so the baby could be born before the 1st.

My father has been living in the US his entire life, he has a social, I don’t need to prove his identity but mine. Yes of course I have a US passport

If you have a valid US passport you must have given the information you are looking for to the government already.

The OP needs a social security number, not a passport.

But as he has a US passport he must have given sufficient documents to show proof of citizenship which in turn will be sufficient proof to obtain an SSN. Besides all you need to get a SSN is a valid US passport.

Because he lived in the US previously, there is additional information that is required prior to obtaining a social security number. In essence, he has to prove that one wasn't previously issued.

Perhaps OP is approaching this wrong. The issue is that OP has to prove that OP doesn't already have a SSN. Perhaps OP should try the tactic or taking the steps to recover a lost SSN.

What I don't understand is why the SSA when given a passport with the OPs Name, DOB and place of birth didn't tell them that there was already a SSN in that name if there was one.
