why did you execute a purchase with 2 months remaining?

why are you dealing with a dealer with such an exasperating process?

why (and how) did you get a 6 year financing agrement on a car that is already 3 years old?

Dealer acts as agent for the lessor so they have the authority to terminate the contract and by allowing a sale, have in fact terminated the lease.

Otherwise, op couldn’t have purchased the car since there is an active lease on the car
That's a fair enough position. I may even change my mind ;)

Because they have the money now to do it.

I suspect that the absurdity of the process wasn't know in advance.

Because that's what dealers do.

In other words, your final two payments were not included. You're going to end up paying it either way. So go in and re-sign, or send the payments directly to the leasing company.
He said that the leasing company provided a "buy out" figure. That would include any outstanding payments remaining so I do not get where you are coming from. I did exactly the same thing last November. I purchased the car I had been leasing two months before the end of the lease. The buy out figure from the leasing company included the last two payments.

OP, if it does eventually turn out that the last two payments were not included (and I would not cave on that issue without doing lots of research) you might want to use that opportunity to have them remove all of the things they upsold you on from the contract.
