OK got off phone from law firm, they
werent real easy to work with, said that there can be no lump settlement at all since I'm in default which I'm suprised at. Then they offered to lower my payment from $121 month to $81 but that they would still take me to court this
Thurday and pursue a judgement against me plus I'd be on the hook for another $291 for court costs. Apparently if I heard correctly, the only way to stop next court proceeding would be to pay the past due amount of $1202 right now (to catch up) and this would also save me the $291 added court costs. They claim they cant change the orginal payment amount since I'm in default
So can I show up in court
Thur and ask the judge to change the payment amount? I live in a small town and really want to avoid a court appearance. Or will I be charged the $291 just to appear in front of judge? Do I have any options left? Or is the law firm calling my bluff? If I get a judgement will they simply withdraw the funds from any bank account that has my
SS number on? Can I ask for a continuance to work out arrangements but I assume that means more court costs?
Any advice would be helpful! I can afford $1200 to be taken out in one lump. Just like the sticky thread, I told the agent I may be able to borrow $ from my brother which of course
isnt possible!
